When Remnant 2 was launched on 25 July 2023, players pointed out some issues killing the game’s performance—and player experience in extension. Gunfire Games showed that they have been listening to the feedback and released the game’s first major PC update on 4 August 2023.
According to Gunfire and Gearbox Publishing, this is the first of many more updates to come. The developer said the August 4 update was to address the biggest performance issues in the game. The update came with a note appreciating everyone that has invested time in the game.

“Thank you so much for your support since we launched Remnant II last week,” the update note read. “The response to the game has been amazing to see and we are honored and humbled by you all. Since launch, the team has been working hard at addressing issues that many of you have raised via our socials as well as our Discord, Reddit, or Steam forums.”
According to a post shared on Twitter by the verified Remnant 2 account, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will get their updates soon, “just waiting for approvals to go through”—although we are not sure who is supposed to give the nod. The PC update offered improvements in four key areas namely:
- Performance and crashes
- Quality of Life
- Balance
- Bug fixes
High-detail shadows have been moved to a separate option and players can choose to either enable or disable it. The most elaborate improvements were done under “Balance” and “Bug fixes”. You can read the entire patch note here to see all the changes that have been made to the game. More updates are expected in the coming weeks.
Hotfix released for Xbox Series X|S
Before the huge update to Remnant 2 on PC, Gunfire Games released a hotfix for Xbox Series X|S on 2 August 2023. The hotfix addressed performance issues reported by Xbox players as well as fixed bugs. The fix gave Xbox players the option to turn motion blur on or off.

- Progression Blocker Fix for exiting out of the first lab cinematic and not receiving the zone door keys.
- Progression Blocker Fix for Water Harp lever no longer working
- Progression Blocker Fix where Nightweaver Web would consume items you need for quest puzzles. If an item was consumed it should now be back in your inventory.
- Added fix for Ultimate Edition players not receiving Gunslinger Engram in the game if they didn’t start with Gunslinger.
- Added fix for player possibly becoming invisible when using Labyrinth portal.
- Added a fix to prevent the host’s save from getting changed if they quit the game while dead and then joined someone else’s game.
