While The Game Awards was organized primarily to celebrate the standout releases of 2023, it also saw an array of announcements, from the premiere of upcoming releases to announcements by studios about their next projects or updates to existing games. One of those announcements was an update to Alan Wake 2.
The Best Game Direction category had Alan Wake 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder as the nominees. However, it was Alan Wake 2 that clinched the prize.

Lake mentioned how hard it was to bring a vision to life without the right team. He thanked all the team at Remedy Entertainment for their dedication.
