ChinaJoy 2024 kicked off on Thursday, July 25, and will end on Monday, July 29, 2024. Now in its 21st edition, the China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference has given gamers the chance to have a hands-on experience with upcoming games including the highly praised Astro Bot.
A nearly 9-minute video was shared by the channel A9VG on YouTube. The demo showcased in the footage appears to be identical to the one shown to the press at Summer Game Fest in June—which happened a few days after the game premiered at PlayStation State of Play. Astro Bot is set for release on September 6.

“The latest game in the Astro Robot series, the ChinaJoy 2024 live demo video, will be released on September 6 this year,” wrote A9VG in the description section of the video. “In this new game, players can explore 6-star systems and more than 80 levels to find Astro’s scattered crew. Grab the Dual Speeder and experience each unique planet in depth.”
Astro Bot is an expanded follow-up of Astro’s Playroom which was bundled with PS5 at launch and helped players to explore the full power of the DualSense controller. The creative director of the series Nicolas Doucet said the Astro Series will likely be “many children’s first foray into video games”.
“It’s a very flexible IP and that’s one of the things that I love about it,” Doucet said last month. “We approached with a light heart and didn’t write a backstory: we’re not precious about details too much, other than the design of the character, which needs to be respected. The rest is really open, and thanks to that, we can feel quite relaxed about where it’s going next.”
