Stage one of the BAFTA Games Awards 2025 opened on June 20 and the announcement came with a few changes to the award. The entry and payment deadline is Thursday, November 7, 2024. The longlist will be announced on Thursday, December 10, 2024, and the nominees will be announced on Thursday, March 4, 2025.
A few things have changed in the voting, entries, and categories sections in the BAFTA Games Awards 2025. One of the changes that has been introduced is that some categories (namely Game Design and Technical Achievement) will only be voted upon by BAFTA voting members with career experience in those areas in round 1.
It was also mentioned that “all BAFTA members registered to vote in the Games Awards will continue to vote in all other categories in round 1”. This change was undoubtedly made to ensure deserving games come out at the top.

Another interesting change made to the BAFTA Games Awards 2025 is that all eligible games entered for the award, regardless of in what category, will be considered for Best Game and British Game—the two top awards of the show.
“British Game entrants will be required to answer a set of mandatory questions designed to address diversity & inclusion and bullying & harassment in the UK games industry to support the BFI Diversity Standards for Games,” the organizers said.
Amendments have been made to the “New Intellectual Property” and “Evolving Game” categories. The former was made to emphasize the originality and innovation of the entry while the latter will now consider only games with “a roadmap for substantial future updates”.
