A game as massive as Baldur’s Gate 3 was almost bound to have bugs. However, the one that caught the attention of most gamers was the genitals C and D clipping through Githyanki’s clothing. While some found it amusing, others were disgusted by the sight.

Customizing genitals is a feature that is gaining prominence in video games. Games like Conan Exiles and Cyberpunk 2077 both included genital customization options. Players were allowed to choose the physics and size of their character’s genitals which often led to humorous outcomes.

In Baldur’s Gate 3, the option of genital customization was limited to uncircumcised and circumcised penises and bare or grass pavement for vulvas. Some players said the options lacked diversity and yearned for more diverse options.

Larian Studios, the maker of Baldur’s Gate 3, has been excellent with fixing bugs in the game as soon as they are discovered. This is the second hotfix the game has gotten since it was released on 3 August 2023.

“We’ve got a new hotfix for you this week, addressing almost 300 crashes, blockers, and bugs,” the studio wrote on a Steam post announcing the arrival of hotfix #2. “We saw a video floating around on the internet this week of… an unintentional gnome sorcerer wardrobe malfunction, and have kindly asked them to cover up while descending into the Underdark.”

Larian thanked everyone that has reported some of the bugs to them. They also mentioned that players can reach out to their support team to report any bugs or troubles. The Hotfix #2 fixes issues that cut across different aspects of the game including;

  • Crashes and blockers
  • Multiplayer
  • Gameplay
  • UI
  • Engine
  • Cinematics

The bulk of the fixes happened in the cinematics. Players that love the multiplayer mode will notice that the long fade-outs when listening in on dialogues in multiplayer mode are now fixed. For details of all the fixes and improvements delivered by hotfix #2, click here.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is now one of the top 10 most popular games of all time

According to Larian Studios, Baldur’s Gate 3 exceeded their expectations. During its launch weekend, Baldur’s Gate 3 recorded over 800,000 concurrent players, a feat that has only been achieved by a handful of games.

“Over the weekend, Baldur’s Gate 3 hit over 800,000 concurrent players on Steam—a number that surpassed our wildest expectations,” Larian wrote in the patch note. “Thank you for getting BG3 in the 10 most popular games of all time on Steam! It means the world to us, and we’ll continue to read and watch everything over the coming weeks.”

Only 11 games have crossed 500,000 concurrent players on Steam. At the top of that list is PUBG: Battlegrounds with 3.2 million concurrent players. Completing the top five spots are Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (1.8 million), Lost Ark (1.3 million), Dota 2 (1.2 million), and Cyberpunk 2077 (1 million).

Getting 814,666 concurrent players shot Baldur’s Gate 3 to number nine on that list, just behind Hogwarts Legacy. Interestingly, all the top five games had over 1 million concurrent players. Also, the total number of concurrent players garnered by the top 5 games is higher than the number of concurrent players of the 6th to 15th game on the all-time list.

Larian Studios is showing other developers how it should be done

Since the release of Baldur’s Gate 3, several players have heaped praises on Larian Studios because of the absence of season pass or microtransactions in the game. Also, Larian has been up and working to make sure that players of BG3 enjoy every bit of the game.

Hotfix #2 is coming just four days after the studio released Hotfix #1. It shows how much the studio has been engaging with the gaming community and fans of its franchise. Some other developers would read the comments but would either do nothing or take weeks or months to act. That is where Larian really stands out.

The biggest issue that was solved in hotfix #1 was the challenge that some layers encountered with saving their games. Larian blamed the issue on cross-saves.

“Bearing in mind this will only be a useful feature come September 6 when the PlayStation 5 version launches (and beyond), we’ve decided to disable it, for now, to allow us to solve the issue in the interim,” Larian said.

Hotfix #1 also solved issues around crashes and blockers, multiplayer, gameplay, UI, Audio, Engine, and cinematics. For detail-by-detail information on everything that was fixed, click here.
