Layoff has hit Ballistic Moon, the studio behind Until Dawn Remake. The company confirmed the decision to let go of some of its staff without mentioning the number of people affected. However multiple reports claim the number is around 11.
Ballistic Moon is a game studio based in Woking, Surrey, UK. The studio was founded in 2019 and currently has from 51 to 200 employees, according to their LinkedIn profile (71 LinkedIn accounts were associated with the studio at the time of writing). They are currently developing Until Dawn for PlayStation 5 and PC.

“As the games industry continues to face complex challenges, we at Ballistic Moon are confronted with some difficult realities,” the studio announced in an official statement posted on LinkedIn.
“It is with deep regret and a heavy heart that we must make the tough decision to significantly scale down our team to secure the future of our studio. This comes after our development of Until Dawn for PS5 and PC.
“As we navigate this transition, Ballistic Moon remains focused on supporting the launch of Until Dawn and is committed to exploring new opportunities and collaborations for the future.”
The studio called the decision “restructuring” and apologized to the employees impacted by the decision—and their families—calling them “talented and passionate group of people”.
August ended on a tough note for people in the video game industry. Layoffs have already been announced at indie publisher Tilting Point and Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League maker Rocksteady Studios.
Reactions from impacted employees at Ballistic Moon
Several ex-employees of Ballistic Moon have posted about the layoffs on social media. GameBaba Universe always tries to humanize those impacted by layoffs by sharing their feelings as well as including links to their profiles to make it easy for anyone with open opportunities to reach them.
“Like many others in this wonderful but turbulent industry, I am sadly being made redundant from my role as a Junior Game Designer at Ballistic Moon,” wrote junior game designer Cassy Cornish. “The team have been wonderful and I’m, so excited for our game to release in October!”
Technical designer Harry Williams who has spent over two years with Ballistic Moon was also impacted. “After two exciting years working on the wonderful Until Dawn 2024 at Ballistic Moon, I am unfortunately being made redundant as a Technical Designer”. Williams is soliciting the help of his connections to land a new role.

“It’s been a fantastic 20 months working at Ballistic Moon on Until Dawn 2024 but unfortunately my role as a Junior Game Designer has been made redundant,” wrote Aron McGee and went ahead to list his portfolio.
Jamie Massey who worked as a gameplay software engineer at Ballistic Moon was also affected but was fortunate to have accepted a job offer from somewhere else. Although Massey posted about the layoff, he used the opportunity to talk about two of his “hardest working colleagues”.
Massey has released an indie game called Ziggy’s Cosmic Adventure. The game recently exceeded 20,000 sales across all storefronts. If you play VR games and have a Meta Quest headset you can support him here.
“Ziggy’s Cosmic Adventures is a VR cockpit game combining ship management with action-arcade combat. You play as a (sometimes effective) bounty hunter with possibly questionable morals, currently in possession of a powerful little alien that you may or may not have stolen/liberated from the evil Empire. As the Empire closes in, you’ll need to find a way to balance your ship’s management with the onslaught of attacks. Do you have what it takes to survive?”
