For a while, layoff news has not popped its ugly head in the media and some of us started to hope the worst was behind us. However, news of layoffs at Behaviour Interactive has now shattered that calm.

Rémi Racine, Behaviour’s Co-Founder and CEO

This is the second round of layoffs to hit Behaviour Interactive this year. Earlier in January, the Dead by Daylight maker laid off 45 employees. Just like the January layoff, the recent layoff is believed to have impacted employees across different departments.

In the last few hours, Behaviour Interactive has made a post confirming the layoff. In the post titled “Behaviour Interactive Implements Strategic Changes for Future Growth”, the Quebec-based studio highlighted the strategic changes that led to the layoff.

“Behaviour will implement multiple strategic changes to its corporate structure, improving the distinction between its product, production, business development, and marketing resources,” the company said in the post confirming the layoff.

“As a result of these changes, the Company will reduce its team by up to 95 employees, 70 of whom are based in Montreal. Each of these individuals offered valuable contributions to Behaviour, and will be fully supported by the organization in pursuing the next step in their careers.”

“I would like to express my deep personal appreciation for any employee affected by today’s changes,” stated Rémi Racine, Behaviour’s Co-Founder and CEO.

“While changes to our structure and strategic vision have led to challenging decisions, we are confident that these decisions will position us for continued success. As we begin the next phase of Behaviour’s growth, our commitment to excellence in our products and workplace culture remains steadfast.”

Reactions from laid off employees at Behaviour Interactive

Several employees impacted by the layoff at Behaviour Interactive have put up posts on social media saying how they have been impacted and asking for support from their connections to land new roles.

“I am sad to say that myself, as well as 94 other extremely talented colleagues at Behaviour Interactive, were let go today,” wrote senior influencer marketing manager, Mae Morrison.” I will continue to fight for inclusivity, come up with inventive campaigns, and uplift creators. I just won’t be doing to with Behaviour, which frankly, is their loss.”

Senior data governance analyst Alexandre Thibault wrote, “As some of you may already know, myself and 94 other very talented individuals at Behaviour Interactive were let go today as part of a reorganization. This means that I am now on the lookout for my next adventures and would greatly appreciate it if you could share this post.”

“As some of you may have heard, and is far too common in this industry, there was a reshuffle within my org, and I was impacted by that,” wrote performance marketing specialist Steven Nguyen. “Unfortunately, I am seeking immediate employment, and would greatly appreciate any sort of signal boost with this post.”

Not everyone felt bad about the layoff. Level designer Brennan Segarra said he felt “incredibly lucky” that he was “able to spend a full 2 years” at what he believed was “one of the best places to work across the entire games industry”.

Senior community manager Jorge Eduardo Chaparro wrote, “Today is one of those days to which we’ve sadly become too accustomed in this industry. Unfortunately, I’m currently seeking immediate employment and would greatly appreciate it if you could share this post.”

What GameBaba Universe found interesting is that the company appears to have hired new employees, hours before the layoff. We spotted at least two posts from William Grant and Emilie Paquin that announced they were starting new roles at the company.

Gamebaba Universe has included the links to the profiles of all the people mentioned in this post to make it easy for anyone with open roles to reach out to them.
