A few days ago, it was widely reported that Sony had shut down two live service titles based on popular PlayStation IPs. They were under development at Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games. One of the titles was believed to be related to God of War.

Bend Studio

“I’ll keep this short,” Bend Studio community manager Kevin McAllister posted on X. “Thanks for the love and support everyone, especially to those that have reached out. P.S. We still plan on creating cool sh*t”

There was an outpouring of support in the comment section of the tweet, which has received over 85,500 views at the time of writing. Some comments particularly mentioned Days Gone and asked the studio to work on a sequel for the game.

“We can’t wait to see what greatness you put out next,” wrote @RinoTheBouncer. “Keep in mind that there’s so much love for Days Gone and Syphon Filter and we hope what we had so far won’t be the last we get”.

Another comment from @Darkborn162 read, “Just make a Days Gone 2. That’s what we all want.”

Bend Studio released Days Gone on PS4 in 2019. It launched to a mixed reception, bagging an average Metascore of 71. In March 2024, the studio posted a job listing for a project management role that confirmed they were working on a live service AAA game.

The job ad explained that the right candidate would require, “a deep understanding of game development cycles, processes, and latest trends with an emphasis on live operations,” and “hands-on game development experience in leadership roles shipping AAA live service games”.

With the closure of Firewalk Studio after the failure of Concord, there were concerns about the future of Bend and Bluepoint. However, both Sony’s spokesperson and Bend Studio community manager have confirmed that the studio is not facing any closure risks following the shuttering of the live service games they were developing.

“Bend and Bluepoint are highly accomplished teams who are valued members of the PlayStation Studios family, and we are working closely with each studio to determine what are the next projects,” Sony’s spokesperson told Bloomberg last week.
