Black Myth: Wukong is already a record-breaker. It attracted over 1.4 million concurrent players on Steam within 1 hour of release. The game has now almost doubled that number. At the time of writing, Black Myth; Wukong has attracted 2,223,179 million concurrent players. That number means the game has now toppled Palworld to become the second-most-played game on Steam.
It has received over 93,000 reviews and the majority of the reviews (96%) have been “Overwhelmingly Positive”. Players have mostly praised the game’s graphics fidelity and the stunning world that perfectly captures the Chinese mythology that inspired the game.

“Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG rooted in Chinese mythology,” read the official game blurb. “You shall set out as the Destined One to venture into the challenges and marvels ahead, to uncover the obscured truth beneath the veil of a glorious legend from the past.”
Prior to the game’s release, a document from its marketing department had allegedly asked streamers and influencers to avoid mentioning politics, COVID-19, and feminist propaganda during their coverage.
Although it is not uncommon for developers and publishers to set the ground rules for influencers and streamers, the document was seen as an attempt to distance the game from the controversial past of the company’s CEO and some of its staff.
Black Myth: Wukong has also shattered several other records including being the most talked about subject on the Chinese X-like social media platform Weibo. It is also now the most-played single-player game on Steam, a record previously held by Cyberpunk 2077 with 1,054,388 concurrent players.

If Black Myth: Wukong can achieve this feat during the week, there is a huge chance it will add several hundred thousand more concurrent players by the weekend. Perhaps, it may be the game that will finally dethrone PUBG: Battlegrounds (3,257,248) from being the most concurrently played game on Steam.
Black Myth: Wukong has 81 unlockable achievements on Steam. Here is the fun fact; the first achievement titled “Home is Behind” has 100% completion which means everyone who played the game has unlocked that achievement.
