Bluey fans who have enjoyed the game on mobile will be thrilled to know that the console version of the game will debut on November 17. While the game on mobile from Budge Studios has over a million downloads on the Play Store, the console version will be developed by Outright Games.

According to the short description that came with the announcement trailer, Bluey: The Video Game is “a game where the parents are the kids, and the kids are the parents”. Upon launch, the game will be available on PS4|PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch.

For those that may be new to the franchise, Bluey is an animated preschool series owned by BBC Studios. The Bluey intellectual property raked in $200 billion in 2022. Making it one of the most successful animation franchises.

Outright Games, in partnership with BBC Studios, is inviting families to join Bluey and her friends in the interactive adventure. Bluey: The Video Game will take players through different iconic locations including Bluey’s house.

“We’re incredibly excited to be working with BBC Studios as a brand-new licensing partner for Outright Games and to help expand the phenomenal world of Bluey into video games,” said the COO of Outright Games, Stephanie Malham.

The game will have four playable characters namely Bluey, Bingo, Chilli, or Bandit. What is even more interesting is the fact that up to four players can simultaneously enjoy the game through local multiplayer. The game will also feature the original voice actors from the animated series. Players will have the opportunity to recreate iconic moments from the TV series.

“We’re delighted to be working with Outright Games on Bluey’s first video game,” said Head of Games at BBC Studios, Kevin Jorge. “It’s very important for us to capture the essence of fun and games that is central to the series. We know fans will be excited to explore Bluey’s world and join in with the Heeler family’s antics.”

Bluey: The Video Game will borrow influence from the animated series

From the announcement trailer, it was clear that Bluey: The Video Game will build heavily on the animated series. The series tells the story of Bluey Heeler dog that loves to turn every day into an adventure. In the series, blue loves to play myriads of games including ‘Floor is Lava’, ‘Magic Xylophone’, and ‘Keepy Uppy’. These games will also feature in Bluey: The Video Game.

Bluey: The Video Game will tell a unique story, some of which will be inspired by fan-favorite moments from the show. According to reports, Bluey: The Video Game will have a four-part storyline. Players will be allowed to chart any of the courses at their own pace.

Like virtually every other game, Bluey: The Video Game will allow players to deviate from the main story and try to solve mini-games for a chance to earn in-game rewards like unlocking new locations, playable episodes, sticker collections, and costumes.

Although targeted at children, the cartoon series has moments that tease adult viewers who may be watching. These moments that seek to expand the audience demographics are arguably one of the reasons behind the success of the franchise.

System requirements for Bluey: The Video Game on PC

Bluey: The Video Game is going to be a fairly large game. Although the exact size of the game is not clear, the Steam listing shows that players will need at least 8 GB of storage space. However, the game will not be hard on graphics cards.

With AMD Radeon R9 280 or NVIDIA GTX 960, you should flawlessly play the game on your PC. Also, the recommended processor is AMD Ryzen 5 2500X or Intel Core i5-8400. However, the lower AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or seventh-generation Intel Core i3 should easily run the game.

Bluey: The Video Game will only cost $40 which is significantly lower than the $70 slammed on the standard edition of most games. Bluey video game preorder is currently available only through Best Buy.
