Over the weekend, Activision claimed that it banned over 27,000 Call of Duty accounts across Warzone and Modern Warfare 3. The developer attributed the development to an improved cheat detection system and fresh security updates designed to keep bad actors at bay. More waves of bans are expected.

#TeamRICOCHET identified and banned over 27,000 accounts over the weekend through a series of upgraded detection systems,” said Activision in a statement, according to Charlie Intel. “The team is progressing on a new set of security updates and anticipates more ban waves to come.”

Following the mass ban over the weekend, several Call of Duty players posted during the week claiming they were falsely banned. Twitch streamer Bams shared a video of him trying to get into Call of Duty but got an error message. “I got false permanent banned on Call of Duty. This is just insane,” the streamer wrote.

“So you telling me while I was on vacation I got banned for absolutely nothing mind you I am a console player no unlock tool no nothing I grind like every legit player and I get hit with perm ban fix it,” wrote @Unknown_Theo.

Those who got permanently banned got a message that listed all the games to which the permanent ban was applied. That was followed by a description that explained the reason for the ban which was usually manipulation of game data or unauthorized software use. One of the messages we saw read;

“Your appeal has been reviewed and we’ve confirmed with our security team that your account has been permanently banned for using unauthorized software and manipulation of game data. As you were the account holder at the time of infraction, your ban will not be overturned.

“To preserve the integrity of our security systems and detection methods, this is the only information our policy allows us to share regarding your case. This decision is final and your case is now closed. In case you are currently playing any other Activision titles and for future reference, please avoid any of these types of violations to keep your account in good standing.”

Getting banned (whether justly or unjustly) was not the only reason why Call of Duty players are criticizing Activision. Godzilla Tracer Pack containing a B.E.A.S.T. Glove recently surfaced in Call of Duty. To get it, players have to spend $80 and buy four different 2,400 CoD points.

To qualify for the B.E.A.S.T. Glove players must purchase four different Godzilla x Kong bundles. Each of the bundles costs $19.99. Players were even more disappointed to know that there was no spectacular animation attached to owning the glove.

The B.E.A.S.T. Glove is a King Kong-themed gorilla fist from the recently released movie Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire. In addition to the price, fans are angry that it offers nothing special except that enemies are taken down with one punch in melee. Below is a clip of the B.E.A.S.T. Glove in action as shared by @DETONATEDcom.

Fans of Call of Duty have been reacting to the huge price that players were expected to pay for the glove. Some are even suggesting that players should boycott the franchise.

On X, Tourens wrote, “$70 Game btw. This should not be in the game for that price. Before these were in 2400 bundles. Now they cost 8000 CP. People need to wake up and speak up about it. Stop with “just don’t buy it”.”

“Just for it to be obsolete and unusable this October when the next game drops lmaoo,” wrote @WraithsRX_.

News and rights advocate Neha had important advice for Call of Duty players, “Every game has its temptations, but finding joy in the challenge without falling for every upgrade can be its own reward. It’s a delicate balance between indulgence and mindful gaming.”
