Catly was one of the games announced at The Game Awards 2024 award night. The game developed and published by SuperAuthenti doesn’t have a release date yet but there is already controversy surrounding it.
After its announcement with a trailer that lasted around a minute, some viewers thought the trailer looked bizarre like something cooked with generative AI. Many said they would not be surprised if the next reveal about the game links it to NFTs or blockchain. If you ar among this category, well, you are wrong.
“[We are] very surprised by such speculations,” said a PR representative of SuperAuthenti in a statement sent to IGN. “We do not think there are any existing AI tools that can produce a video like that. Industry experts have echoed this opinion.”
“Our company/project has never issued any blockchain currency and any NFTs. Our company does not and has never owned any blockchain currency and NFTs.”
Catly was developed using Unreal Engine 5. To further prove that the game doesn’t include generative AI, the developer has now released a new and longer trailer of the game on Steam. This time, the trailer contains footage captured in-engine.
The trailer started by disclosing that the score for the game was composed by Akira Senju followed by the statement, “captured in-game running in real-time”. Unlike the announcement trailer that focused on one location, the new trailer flaunted the beautiful and colorful world of Catly.

Catly features different breeds of cats and appears to include world-building mechanics. The game will also feature several costumes—and some of them transform the cats into other animals—and realistic cat emotes like twitching of one ear and licking of paws.
Catly is “an open-world adventure filled with surprises and joy, side by side with Cats!” It allows you to “build your dream island, meet various characters, and enjoy caring for your cats, dressing up, building, farming, racing, skiing, and much more!”
SuperAuthenti is promising “endless fun” in Catly. The game is all about building a strong bond with your furry friend. Catly looks finished and we won’t be surprised to have it launch sometime in 2025.
