Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from Sandfall Interactive is such a stunner that it is currently the highest-rated game of 2025 so far. It also hit several other milestones, including shipping 500,000 copies in twenty-four hours. However, recreational players have faced two main pain points. As we predicted, the concurrent player count has exceeded one hundred thousand and stood at 121,422 at the time of writing.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based action RPG where dodging and parrying have to be timed to milliseconds accuracy or you take a hit from your opponent. Taking too many hits can prolong each boss encounter in ways that can make the game annoying.

One PC player has released a mod that extends the timing window of dodge and parry during combat, making it easier for recreational players to enjoy the game rather than always being on the edge.

The Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 mod (called Easier or Harder Dodge and Parry) is free to download on NexusMods. The creator also included detailed instructions on how to correctly install it within the game’s file directory on PC.

The mod was created by a user named Caites. According to the creator, the standard window for dodging in Expedition 33 is between 0.22 and 0.35 seconds, while that of parrying is between 0.15 and 0.25 seconds. While parrying has a slimmer window, a successful parry can initiate a counterattack with devastating impact on the enemy.

With the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 mod, players can extend the dodge and parry window to 1 second, which is a huge leap compared to the developers’ offering. While the Caites mod instruction specifically mentioned the Steam version of the game, it will also work on copies purchased through the Epic Games Store.

Expedition 33 continues to enjoy praise across the gaming industry, with many already pointing at it as a GOTY contender. But, would you love to see a story DLC for the game? Share your thoughts in the comment box below.
