With the launch of Death Stranding on Xbox, many are wondering if the second installment of the game will also launch on Xbox. Kojima Productions has yet to respond to that question at the time of writing.

Hideo Kojima, the mastermind behind Kojima Productions, has strengthened partnerships with Xbox in recent years. One of the products from that partnership was the announcement of a new IP called OD.

Perhaps, the reason why Death Stranding could launch on Xbox was because the IP now belongs to the developer. The revelation was made through automaton-media.

“In addition, KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS announced that the IP for this work will belong to the studio. They said that they will continue to connect more fans around the world in various forms of entertainment,” read the report in the Japanese media.

“We are finally able to deliver Death Stranding to Xbox users. Thank you to all the fans who have continued to connect with us up to this point, and to all the Xbox users who have continued to wait,” said the developer. “Kojima Productions (Death Stranding) will continue to connect more game fans around the world, so please look forward to it.”

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is currently in development exclusively for PlayStation 5 and is scheduled for release sometime in 2025. The recent development may suggest that the game may also launch on Xbox and PC unless PlayStation gets some form of marketing or exclusivity deal.

More Death Standing 2 news will likely be announced at The Game Awards which is roughly a month away. Death Stranding on Xbox was published by 505 Games.
