Some of the games scheduled to be published this year by Devolver Digital have slipped into 2025. However, what caught my attention was how creatively the delay was packaged that’ll make it hard for any gamer to get mad at the developers and publishers.
Devolver announced the delays using a mock award ceremony titled the 15th annual Devolver Delayed Awards 2024. The faux award ceremony was described as “the only awards show recognizing those heroic developers with the courage and determination to delay their game into the next fiscal year”.

“This year’s esteemed nominees is one of the most prestigious and anticipated groups we’ve seen in years and our panels of experts were surely put to the test to select just one winner,” read the video description.
Devolver revealed that Skate Story, Stick It To The Stickman, Baby Steps, and Volvy’s Adventure DX have all been delayed. This is the second time that Skate Story and Stick It To The Stickman have been delayed. Both games were also part of last August’s Devolver Delayed Showcase where they were both delayed from 2023 to 2024.
“Stick it to the Stickman is a groin-kicking, staple-gunning, chainsaw-wielding roguelike brawler loaded with high-impact, physics-based combat, copious amounts of coffee, and weaponized farts,” read the official blurb on Devolver’s website.
On the other hand, the publisher described Skate Story as a game where you will “Ollie, kickflip, and grind your way through the ash and smoke of the Underworld as you take on a seemingly impossible quest. Skate fast to destroy demons and save other tortured souls on your journey from fragile beginner to a hardened skater.”
In Baby Steps, players will relive the difficulty of taking the first life steps through “Nate, an unemployed failson with nothing going for him, until one day he discovers a power he never knew he had… putting one foot in front of the other”.
Devolver also used the opportunity to highlight all the games they published this year—some of which now have huge discounts slammed on them. Before listing the published games, the video voice narrator said, “Not every game remains in development forever and the Academy will like to honor those games that tragically went to market with great success”.
