Dragon Age: The Veilguard director, Corine Busche, has left BioWare barely three months after the game’s release. This brings an end to her 18-year journey with Electronic Arts. In a recent interview, she disclosed the main reason for her departure.
“At the heart of it, this was about my own fulfillment,” Busche said in a statement sent to Eurogamer. “I did what I set out to do at BioWare. That is to come in and help right the ship. I love Dragon Age, and BioWare, so the chance to return the game to a proper quality single-player RPG was the privilege of a lifetime.”

“It was hard fought, as games with such tumultuous dev cycles rarely end up shipping, and even more rarely turn out great. We, as a team, did it. And it was hard. It took a toll on me. BioWare still has a lot of work to do culturally, but I do believe they are on the right footing now.”
Although Busche declined to talk about her next project, it appears she would be sticking closely to the RPG space. Is Dragon Age: The Veilguard under any form of threat from her departure? Absolutely not! That is because there is no expansion planned for the game. BioWare has since shifted its focus to the next Mass Effect installment.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched on October 31, 2024, to a mostly positive reception. It garnered an average Metascore of 85 on Xbox, 82 on PS5, and 76 on PC. The game’s reception was more positive than what critics had projected.
The game angered critics because of the mention of LGBT. Many gamers are furious today that some developers are forcing DEI in video games in a way that is ruining the playing experience. However, that is still a debatable topic.
