“Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a narrative-driven action RPG set in an immersive fantasy world designed to place player choice at the heart of the gameplay experience,” said Itsuno.

While finally getting a release date for Dragon’s Dogma 2 was exciting, what was even more exciting was Talos, a new monster statue that emerged from the water, crushing everything in its path. This is the first time that the monster has appeared in the game. Players will be tasked with finding a way to defeat the giant statue.

Depending on your choice of vocation, you will be able to tackle every situation from a variety of combat experiences. Apparently, there are points on the giant statue covered by purple crystals that you need to locate and destroy to bring the monster down.

Other interesting monsters in the game include Dullahan, a metallic giant wielding a flaming ghostly head and Drake, a giant dragon.

Thanks to the new livestream showcase, we have learned more about the story of Dragon’s Dogma 2 including some of the characters that featured in the game. At the heart of the entire story is a character known as Arisen.

“Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a tale of the Arisen, whose heart is taken by the Dragon,” said Hirabayashi. “While this sequel mirrors the world setting of the first game, the adventure takes place in a parallel world.”

We already know that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will feature two kingdoms namely Vermund (the human kingdom) where the queen has set a false Arisen on the throne and Battahl (the monster kingdom) which treats Pawns as the source of misfortune.

The inhabitants of Battahl worship the Lambent Flame to ward off calamity. At the heart of the worship is Empress Nadinia. The one thing that both kingdoms agree upon is seeing the dragon as a threat. However, their thoughts towards the Arisen and the Pawn differ.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 makes use of photogrammetry technology to increase photorealism as well as simplify the process of character creation.

“Selecting the images that resemble the kind of look you have in mind provides a more intuitive way to create your ideal character,” said Itsuno.

Trickster vocation revealed for Dragon’s Dogma 2

Adding to the four other vocations already revealed for the game, a new vocation called Trickster was also revealed in the November 28 livestream. The Trickster is designed for those who want to play minimal combat roles.

“Exclusive to the Arisen, the Trickster is a vocation that wields the Censer and uses the smoke it produces to conjure illusions,” explained Hirabayashi. “By confusing the enemy into fighting themselves through illusions or increasing the power of Pawns beyond their normal parameters for a limited period of time, this vocation focuses on support and use of unique strategies.”
