Earlier this month, Xbox announced that it was adding 5 games to Game Pass. The company has now expanded the list with three additional games that will launch on day one on the subscription service.
To enjoy these games, you must be a Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscriber. Interestingly, all the new games coming to Xbox Game Pass are all strategy games. If you are a fan of this genre, you’ll certainly have your hands full.
Wargroove 2 (September 19)
Coming to Game Pass on September 19 is Wargroove 2, a strategy game developed and published by Chucklefish. It challenges players to embark on a new adventure with unlikely “friendships, unknown adversaries, and ugly revenge plot”. The battlefield includes the sea and the sky and features a cast of new Commanders. On Steam, the game has Mostly Positive reviews.

Frostpunk 2 (September 20)
Dropping into Game Pass on September 20 is the long-awaited Frostpunk 2. Developed and published by 11 Bit Studios, Frostpunk 2 will see players take the role of a Steward and lead their city through a cascade of calamities in a postapocalyptic, snowy setting. In this strategy game, you either expand or perish.
Ara: History Untold (September 24)
While we have seen several gameplay footages of Ara, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will finally get their hands on this strategy game from Oxide Games and Xbox Game Studios on September 24. Ara is advertised as “an evolution in historical grand strategy”. It features both classic PC strategy mechanics and innovative gameplay.

9 games leaving Xbox Game Pass
While there is a flurry of new additions to Game Pass, several other games, including beloved franchises will make an exit. This includes The Walking Dead series, Valheim, and Gotham Knights.
Gotham Knights received was launched to mixed reception. Its best score on Metacritic was 67 on PS5. The score dropped to 66 on PC and further to 64 on Xbox Series X. The game was set after the death of Batman which shouldered Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin with the task to protect Gotham City. Here is the full list of games leaving Game Pass.
