What is it about the Grand Theft Auto franchise that is making fans so obsessed, you may ask? Over the past year, speculations and rumors have been flying around about GTA VI. Last week, an “insider” boldly stated that the GTA 6 official release announcement will happen on October 26.
Well, this time, fans of the franchise are seeing clues on the moon and everywhere else. It all started on September 28 when Rockstar Games shared a promotional article for GTA Online that promised “double rewards on Hasta La Vistar, a free Moon Festival Tee, and more”.
Accompanying the article was a series of images showcasing the different rewards that players could get. One of them had the image of two characters rocking the red Moon Festival tees. Behind them was a red-lit tower, the famous Vinewood sign in GTA Online, and a moon.

“Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival—play GTA Online anytime this week to collect the Red Happy Moon Tee and join the festivities,” was the message that followed the image.
It all seemed like an innocent image until GTA VI fans jumped on it and started analyzing every element of the picture. The first talking point was the fact that the characters obscured most of the Vinewood sign leaving only the VI clearly visible.
A user on the X social media platform with the handle @Dirty_Worka paid more attention to the moon and formed a GTA VI announcement theory from there.
“The moon in the VI tease tweet from @RockstarGames is a Warning Gibbous at ~85%,” @Dirty_Worka wrote. “The moon enters that phase again on Monday, 2-OCT-2023, and then again on Wednesday, 1-NOV-2023. Could this latest Tweet not only tease VI, but point to the next big announcement?”
A Redditor with the handle u/ApprehensiveTop8927 dissected the image even further with the bold claim that GTA VI will be revealed today, October 3. To back that claim, the Redditor also went down memory lane to show how the majority of Rockstar games were announced or released on a Tuesday in October.

GTA VI fans are seeing VI on body parts too
The image of the Moon Festival was not the only one subjected to over-analysis by GTA VI fans. The image to promote the Alpine Hat got worse treatment. The image had two characters in the foreground sitting behind a wood bench and another two standing behind them. There was a thermal airship floating on the horizon with the word “Pißwasser” inscribed on it.
“That distinct Pißwasser aroma permeating Southern San Andreas can only mean one thing, it’s Oktoberfest,” was the message that followed the image. “Celebrate the occasion with the traditionally-styled Alpine Hat, added to your character’s wardrobe when you play GTA Online through October 4”.
When Rockstar shared the image on X social media platform, it sparked another theory about the GTA VI announcement with fans of the franchise seeing the Roman numeral for number 6 everywhere.

The handle @GTABase edited the picture and marked out a “V” on the elbow of the male character in the foreground and an “I” from his other hand. The edited image was shared with the caption “GtA 6 cOnFirMeD!?!”
Another user with the handle @MJ_Hernandez shared another edited image. This fan saw the letter “V” on the male character’s neck while the bottle he held was the “I”. It was followed with the caption, “I cannot believe Rockstar would leak gta ‘VI’ using this guy’s V-neck shirt and beer bottle”.
Arguably the worst editing of them all was from the user with the handle @R3DD34D2. This fan saw VI everywhere in the background. The user also speculated that the female character in the background was Lucia, the supposed female protagonist in GTA VI.

Rockstar has mostly remained silent on the different GTA VI leaks flying around—even when the game will likely be released in 2024. However, that has not stopped fans from speculating.
