A few weeks ago, it was rumored that Far Cry 7 was under development. That rumor has now been confirmed by a new Ubisoft job listing on LinkedIn. The game will add to Ubisoft’s already long roster of games currently in development or awaiting release.
According to reports, Ubisoft has 11 Assassin’s Creed games in the works as well as a remake of Splinter Cell. Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is already scheduled for 12 October 2023 release. It was one of the games that headlined the Xbox Games showcase in June.
The job posting on LinkedIn was titled “UX Design [Far Cry Project]”. Also, it was revealed that the right candidate will join the team at Ubisoft Toronto. At the time of writing this post, 102 applicants have already sent in their resumes.
“Are you looking to work with enthusiastic experts who are tackling industry-changing challenges in entertainment and beyond?” read part of the job description. “At Ubisoft Toronto, we are always striving to get better, be better and do better – embracing innovative ideas, exploring new technologies, and working together courageously and collaboratively.”
The job posting also mentioned that the right candidate will “support the online experience of the game (toxicity management, shop, etc.) in collaboration with game design.”
That statement also suggests that the next Far Cry title will have online multiplayer compatibility. This is a feature that some fans of the franchise have yearned for over the years. However, it has been lacking in previous entries.
A rumor from an anonymous source spilled more details
“Far Cry: Conquest is an open-world, narrative-focused extraction mode where player squads of 3 have free rein to complete narrative-based missions, take on additional side objectives, engage with 90 other enemy players or Al combatants, and search for valuable items, all while fighting to survive toward escaping the island,” read the Far Cry 7 rumor.
“Players of all skill levels can choose their own strategy to play and win in this sandbox mode. It’s about exploring an environment where there are active Al forces and enemy players, performing tasks and objectives, and leave the island with loot, money, valuables, and rewards to build out your inventory for the next venture onto the island. The basic idea is to loot up and get out alive.”

While the LinkedIn Job posting confirms that a Far Cry title is on the way, there is also the possibility that it may be a remake of one of the old titles rather than a new entry. Therefore, we strongly advise our readers not to be carried away.
Far Cry 7 leak suggests the game will be set in Korea
One of the reveals of the Far Cry 7 leak was that the game would be called Far Cry: Rise. Also, the anonymous source said the game will be set on a fictional island located in the yellow sea within Korea’s neighborhood that has been overrun by North Korean insurgents.
“In Far Cry: Rise, you find yourself stranded on Kimsan, a remote tropical island resort in the yellow sea taken over by North Korean insurgents and their leader Choi Sang-Pil (Played By Actor Lee Jung-Jae) who has special plans for the people of the island,” read the rumor.
“In Far Cry: Rise players are put into the role of either Andrew or Mina Park, who are Korean Idols that must learn to survive and save their siblings from the expanding insurgency. From the conflicts you decide to engage in down to the allies or foes you meet along the way, Rise to the challenge and choose how the story of Far Cry: Rise unfolds.”
While this may sound controversial, it is not the first time that the franchise will be playing a discordant tone. Far Cry 5 was also controversial because of its choice of United States setting. Nevertheless, It went ahead to sell over 25 million copies to become the best-selling Ubisoft game.
Far Cry 6 did not come close. Perhaps, Ubisoft wants to roll the controversy dice once more to see if it can replicate Far Cry 5’s success in the next installment of the franchise. Earlier in March, Levvvel reported that Yves Guillemot mentioned that two new Far Cry games were discussed during an internal meeting.
According to Guillemot, the two games were initially developed as one but split apart during development. The report also mentioned that one of the games will be a standalone Far Cry multiplayer title while the other would be Far Cry 7.

The recent job posting on LinkedIn further corroborates the report by Levvvel and adds credibility to the fact that fans may finally get a Far Cry multiplayer game.
While the leaks appear detailed, always take rumors with a pinch of salt until you hear something from the developer. By the way, how do you feel about a Far Cry 7? Share your thoughts in the comment box below.
