Game Pass Ultimate members have access to top titles from the Xbox Game Pass catalog to enjoy on different devices. However, Microsoft is upping the game by allowing this subscription tier members to stream select games they own.
“Starting today, I’m excited to announce that we’re allowing Game Pass Ultimate members to stream select games they own through TVs and browser on supported devices like smartphones, PCs, and tablets, in all 28 countries where Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) is available,” announced Corporate Vice President of Xbox Experiences and Platforms Engineering Ashley McKissick on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

Come 2025, Microsoft plans to bring this feature to Xbox consoles and the Xbox app on Windows. No fewer than 50 games have already been added to Game Pass Ultimate so that players who own the games can stream them, with the company promising more in the future.
What this means is that Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can stream games they own, even if the games are not yet on Game Pass catalog. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can stream cloud-playable games on various devices including Samsung Smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV devices, Meta Quest headsets as well as other browser supported devices like PCs, smart phones, and tablets.
How Game Pass Ultimate members can stream their own game
Streaming your own game is easy. You can do this with most devices with a web browser and strong internet—around 15 to 25Mbps depending on your streaming quality settings. On your device (PC, tablet, smartphone, handheld) do the following:
- Open a supported web browser like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Apple Safari
- Input the URL https://xbox.com/play into your browser
- Sign into your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership
- Locate ‘Stream your own game’ option to find games you can play as well as those you can stream after you purchase them
- Connect a supported controller (Xbox Wireless Controller or PlayStation DualSense)
- Press play
On supported TVs like the Amazon Fire device and Samsung TV, you need to download the Xbox app first and follow the third step highlighted above to get started. It is crucial to mention that games purchased digitally for streaming can be downloaded and played on the Xbox console at no extra cost.
