Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier claims that Rockstar’s GTA 6 announcement will come as early as this week, citing sources familiar with the company’s plans. The report went further to say that the game’s first trailer will be in December to commemorate the company’s 25th anniversary.
Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, is set to report its quarterly earnings today. What I cannot tell is whether the rumored GTA 6 announcement will happen before, during, or after the earnings report.
I believe Rockstar had earlier planned to keep the lid tight on the game’s development until they were ready for announcement. However, the company was forced to acknowledge the existence of the game after alpha footage was leaked last year through Lapsus$ attack.

The attack is considered one of the most high-profile data leaks in the history of the video game industry. In September 2022, over 1-hour GTA 6 development footage was leaked online. The footage gave players a first look at what to expect from one of the greatest video games of all time.
The leaked footage spewed a lot of information about the upcoming title as well as confirmed previous reports that claimed the game would be set in Vice City and feature the series’ first female protagonist. GTA 6 is arguably one of the most talked about titles in the game industry.
Fans of the franchise have been dying for an official GTA 6 announcement from Rockstar and a trailer. However, that has not been forthcoming. Back in August, a fan of the franchise interrupted Gamescom opening night live when he appeared on stage and demanded GTA 6.

Nothing causes depression faster than a dashed expectation—especially a high-profile one like a GTA 6 announcement. Until Rockstar says something, sit back, relax, and keep seeping from your water bottle.
Schreier’s sources are not allowed to publicly talk about the game. Therefore, besides the bold claim that the GTA 6 announcement will happen this week, nothing else was revealed about the game, and the sources remained anonymous.
However, if GTA 6 announcement happens this week and a trailer is expected next month, then my best guess is that the trailer will premiere at The Game Awards scheduled for December 7. The Game Awards is famous for hosting exclusive world premieres of upcoming games and video game movie adaptations.

For example, the 2022 edition of The Game Awards saw the premiere of Super Mario Bros. Movie as well as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
