The last six months have been the most uncertain months for the future of the Xbox console. After 1,900 people were laid off from the Microsoft gaming division, it was announced that several Xbox exclusives will be porting to rival platforms. A new report now claims that Halo: Combat Evolved will be remastered again and will likely be released on PS5.
The troubles with Microsoft’s gaming division did not stop with layoffs and porting exclusives to rival platforms. The company also shut down several studios months ago, including Hi-Fi Rush maker Tango Gameworks.

As we draw closer to the Xbox Games Showcase, we are seeing more strategy shifts in Microsoft’s gaming division in both hardware and software. Although the company executives mentioned in a February Business Update that its next console will be a technological leap, fans have found it hard to believe.
This is partly because the company’s internally known “Project Latitude” plans to port more first-party titles to rival platforms—beyond the four announced in February. According to Tom Warren of The Verge, via the website’s subscription-based Notepad newsletter, Microsoft is planning to port more games including Halo: Combat Evolved to rival platforms.
However, unlike previously claimed, Warren said that Gears 6, Fable, and South of Midnight are not among the games that are on the company’s porting priority list. However, the new Doom game called Doom: The Dark Ages will also be ported.

What many may find interesting about the Halo: Combat Evolved is that it had already been remastered before as part of the Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. The game was remade by 343 Industries using their in-house game engine. Although originally released in November 2011, it was re-released as part of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
News on Combat Evolved may feature in the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase
It is claimed that the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase could stretch for two hours and include 30 games—of which GameBaba Universe suspects something about Halo: Combat Evolved may pop up.
The claim was made by Giant Bomb reporter, Jeff Grubb who is famous for high-profile reveals in the game industry. Grubb made the revelation while speaking about the event in the recent Kinda Funny Gamecast.
“I’m not going to spoil anything, but the numbers I’m hearing is about two hours and about 30 games, and at least a handful of those are games that we’ve never heard of before,” he said (as spotted on Resetera).
The upcoming Xbox Games Showcase will be the first of its kind to include titles from Activision Blizzard, Bethesda, and Xbox Game Studios. The show will be held on June 9 at 10 am PT/ 1 pm ET / 6 pm BST, just two days after the Summer Game Fest.
“I think there will be around five games that we haven’t heard about before and that’s from across all their verticals,” Grubb said. “I joked that Dragon Age Dreadwolf won’t be there and will be there. ’Dragon Age: Dreadwolf’ probably won’t be there, ‘Dragon Age’ will be there, if that makes sense.”
While his statement on Dragon Age felt obscure at that time, it has now become clearer. The reason he said what he said was because Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has now been renamed to Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Exciting news, #DragonAge fans! Join us on June 11 for the first official gameplay reveal.

There is quite a huge library of Xbox first-party titles that are still in the works. GameBaba Universe anticipates that the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase will be used to announce definite release dates for upcoming Xbox titles for the rest of the year.
