Arrowhead has announced the launch of Helldivers 2 Warbond – Cutting Edge update set to launch on March 14. Making the announcement, Arrowhead Game Studios social media and community manager Katherine Baskin said it will give players “the chance to load out of liberty with ultra-futuristic armor, guns that spit lightning, super stylish capes, and epic emotes”.

“Helldivers… we need your help,” Baskin wrote in the company’s characteristic urgency tone. “The brainiacs in Super Earth Research & Development have some cool experimental armor ready to be field-tested. This is where you come in, you’re just the right people for the job.”

Cutting Edge will come with three EX-series prototype guns, all of which are futuristic. Unlike most of the guns that came with the game during launch, the EX-series prototypes don’t shoot bullets. For example, the EX-03 Prototype 3 operates at 400,000 volts, enough to fry anything on its path.

Another gun in the EX-series, the EX-16 prototype 16 generates a strong magnetic field—and Baskin joked that players should avoid using them near stapled paperwork. EX-00 prototype X will also be coming with Cutting Edge—although Baskin did not say what it does.

Helldivers 2 Warbond – Cutting Edge will include an expanded arsenal

The upcoming Warbond – Cutting Edge will also feature an expanded arsenal. The G-23 Stun, a new stun grenade, and the LAS-7 Dager pistol, a laser shooting gun that melts anything in its path will be added to the unlockable list.

Also coming in the Helldivers 2 Warbond – Cutting Edge is a LAS-16 Sickle. The laser rifle fires in short bursts without the need for reloading. The only thing that players need to watch out for is its heat meter to avoid overloading.

The SG-8P Punisher Plasma is a handy arsenal that will also be introduced to the game in the March 14 update. Describing the gun, Basking said it shoots exploding plasma rounds. According to Baskin, “The modified Punisher shotgun is as fun as it is fearsome”.

Another piece of arsenal that will be introduced to the game is the ARC-12 Blitzer which “projects an arc of close-range lightning”. However, players will have the option to charge the gun to “fire off powerful bolts”. Baskin said it is “good for taking out multiple targets”—and there are numerous sticky situations in Helldivers 2 where players have to deal with multiple enemies.

Beyond the guns, the Helldivers 2 Warbond – Cutting Edge update will come with three new capes that allow Helldivers to spread democracy in style.

“My favorite is the Botslayer: a light tan cape that will no doubt look great soaked in Automaton oil,” said Baskin. “There are even matching player cards for each cape, as well as three new emotes.”

Players will likely find Mechs in Tien Kwan

One of the most anticipated features of Helldivers 2 is the Exosuit (aka mechs). While it has been teased several times by Arrowhead, players are yet to tell when it will be coming to the game. Recently, leaked videos showing players hoping in and out of the Exosuits surfaced online, sparking further excitement and curiosity about the suits.

Well, Arrowhead may have silently revealed the location of the mechs. In a 30-second video shared by Arrowhead on March 7, 2024, Helldivers were called to liberate Tien Kwan. Tien Kwan was described as “home to the sole facility stockpiling new Exosuit technology”. It was said that Helldivers should not “allow this technology to fall into their despotic actuators”.

Several mechs were shown off in the video including an advanced mech with multiple launch rocket systems mounted on both shoulders. It is still not clear when this will be available to players. However, many believe it will help to speed up mission completion time.
