Helldivers 2 recently got a Killzone 2 cosmetic crossover. However, the price has been a talking point for the community—and it has not been for good. Arrowhead’s CEO and CCO have been listening to the community feedback and have now responded.
The Helldivers 2 cosmetic crossover was initially planned for release as a warbond but the studio decided against it to avoid the same feedback they are currently getting from their loyal community. Players complained specifically about the steep number of super credits charged for the new assault rifle and armor.

On December 18, Arrowhead CCO Johan Pilestedt posted about the Killzone x Helldivers 2 crossover saying he was “Pretty proud of the content” and hailing his team for nailing the Killzone weapons. Under the comment, a fan of Helldivers 2 @KyleJohnsonVA expressed his opinion on how he thought the price was steep.
“Sorry you felt the price was steep, we are looking at all feedback,” Pilestedt wrote in response. “The reason we changed it from a warbond was actually because there were concerns that having a higher priced warbond would carry negative sentiment.”

Another comment suggested Arrowhead was pressuring their community into FOMO by making the content time-bound. In response, Pilestedt said, “This content will return as the store rotates, even though the rotation is getting pretty long.”
Arrowhead’s CEO Shams Jorjani was also on the game’s official Discord to respond to criticism concerning the overpriced cosmetics.

“Hey, quick comment on the Helghast stuff,” said Jorjani. “Firstly, this is our first collaboration, so we’ll figure it out as we go along. Let us know what you’d like to see in the future. Secondly, it’s optional. The more of this we sell, the more illuminate-type stuff we can keep dropping for free.”
The explanation did not go well with some members of the Helldivers community. This prompted Jorjani to release another statement clarifying his earlier opinion.
“I meant to say that the better the game does, the more stuff we can do. Part of Omens of Tyranny was made by co-development studios that we could not have done unless you fine folks supported us through super credit purchases.”
