However, Elon Musk who runs X, SpaceX, and Tesla has figured out an unconventional way of fighting business stress.

“Killing the demons in a video game calms the demons in my mind,” Elon Musk said. “I’ve played a lot of video games because it’s my primary recreational activity. My mind is a storm. I don’t think most people would want to be me. They may think they would want to be me, but they don’t, they don’t know, they don’t understand.”

Elon Musk’s love for video games has been extensively documented. His biographer, Walter Isaacson, wrote in a book that Musk played video games until 5:30 a.m. the night he decided to acquire Twitter. It was even reported that he made his own video games as a kid.

“If you play a tough video game, you can get into a state of flow which is very enjoyable,” he told Friedman. Admittedly, it needs to be not too easy, not too hard—kind of in the Goldilocks zone. I guess you generally want to feel like you’re progressing in the game. There’s also beautiful art, engaging storyline, and it’s like an amazing puzzle to solve.”

Elon Musk wore a Dead Space T-shirt to the Texas-Mexican Border

Elon Musk has never made his love for video games a secret. Back in August, he attended the Valorant Champions Tournament finals—although he didn’t get the best of receptions. A month later, he live-streamed his visit to the Texas-Mexican border in Eagle Pass, a five-hour drive from where he lives. What caught the attention of many was the black Dead Space shirt which he wore with a matching cowboy hat.

“Please encourage more citizen journalism!” he wrote on X. “You can do live video easily from your phone. More on-the-ground reporting from regular citizens will change the world.”

During the livestream, Elon Musk expressed that he had a personal relationship with immigration since his parents were immigrants. He highlighted some of the dehumanizing challenges that immigrants face once they cross over the border including family separation, higher poverty rate, and a justice system designed to crush them.

“As an immigrant to the United States, I am extremely pro-immigrant,” Elon Musk said during the live stream. “I believe that we need a greatly expanded legal immigration system. But then, by the same token, we should also not be allowing people in the country if they’re breaking the law. That doesn’t make sense. The law is there for a reason.”
