Indie developers often struggle with financing and grabbing the attention of the gaming world. The Farming Simulator 22 launch trailer was released on Tuesday 21 March 2023 but has already garnered over 200k views at the time of publishing this post. This highlights the game’s exploding audience. However, what is most interesting about the game is how it gets its funding.
Developed by Switzerland-based Giant Software, Farming Simulator no longer gets worked up about finding the funds to keep the game running. This is because farm machinery manufacturers are now falling over themselves to win a spot in the unlikely advertising vehicle: the Farming Simulator video game.

The game has become so revered that some equipment manufacturers now release new products at the same time as the launch of the game’s update. For example, Farming Simulator 22 contains nine products from Göweil. The game is meant to shine a light on the firm’s real-world hay balers.
Farming Simulator 22: Göweil Pack was released on 21 March 2023. Speaking with the Observer, Giants Software revealed that the interest it gets from manufacturers provides it with enough revenue to cover the game’s development costs.
“In the beginning, we had to ask manufacturers to be included in the game,” said Wolfgang Ebert, Giants Software’s marketing manager. “Today, we have to consider who we can integrate and what benefit there is to the game—we have many, many brands waiting to be included.”
What draws gamers to Farming Simulator?
Just like other simulator games like Formula One racing games and Microsoft Flight Simulator, the Farming Simulator series has maintained its appeal with a realistic experience. Also, not every farmer can afford a baling machine. However, with the game, the farmers can get a feel of what using the machines feels like on the field. This makes the game a valuable asset.
Companies that want their products to feature in the game now share their product’s comprehensive engineering drawing with the developer for onward simulation. The simulation process is a very sensitive matter said Martin Seidel, the partner manager for Giants Software.
“We definitely need to have good relationships with everyone, because we’re on a high trust level,” Seidel said. “The really interesting stuff is above nine meters, and that’s what everyone wants to advertise. It’s up to me and my colleagues to be patient and negotiate.
Giants Software has resources to add about 500 products in the PlayStation, Xbox, and PC versions of the game as well as 130 in the handheld version. Therefore, there are really limited slots in the game. Ebert and Seidel shied away from talking about how much they are offered to include a manufacturer’s product in the game.
“Our main business is game development,” Seidel said.
In September 2022, Valtra, a Finnish equipment manufacturer, unveiled its Q series of tractors at about the same time as the release of the Farming Simulator 22 update. However, there appears to be more to the pattern than just a coincidence.

“We collaborated since 2014 and we see if our timetables coincide, and that makes things cooler,” said Pamela Engels, senior manager for communications and digital marketing for Valtra, in Finland. “So right from the get-go, farmers will hear about the Q-series, and on that very day the gaming community were able to discover it.”

If you are interested in playing Farming Simulator 22: Göweil Pack, it is important to pay attention to the recommended system requirements. In terms of memory, you will need 8 GB of RAM and 35 GB of storage space.
The game is designed for Windows 10 Home 9Ă—64). You might run into problems if you try playing the game on earlier versions of Windows. For a lag-free gaming experience, you need a 5th-generation Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 or better.

What to expect from Farming Simulator 22: Göweil Pack
Farming Simulator 22: Göweil Pack is the first of the multiple-content pack to be released by Giants Software in 2023. It extends the process of wrapping and baling different resources. The pack brings new machines and gameplay possibilities to the game.
“We’ve added technology that’s entirely new to Farming Simulator: The Göweil Pack expands the fleet of machines with new possibilities for baling-oriented farming operations and their complexity,” said Thomas Frey, the creative director and partner manager at Giants Software. “Nine machines are introduced and let virtual farmers transform more resources into bales than before: mixed feed, sugar beet pulp, corn silage, and more.”
Nine new machines from Göweil have been included in the game which will help the player to better manage their farm. The machines include;

- Göweil Automater baler wrapper G4010 Q Profi
- Göweil Roller wrapper G1015 (allows players to wrap, transport, and stack bales with a single machine)

- Göweil G-1 F125 Kombi
- Göweil G-1 F125
- Göweil G5020
In addition to these machines, Göweil and Giants Software has collaborated to deliver more tools to enhance the quality of life including bale turners that increase the handling and quality of bales and silage additive tanks.

The March 21 release is one of three more releases and one expansion planned by the publisher before the end of 2023. A Year 2 Season Pass will give fans access to all the games. Using the pass will also allow players to save up to 30% compared to getting the different content separately.
