Invincible: Guarding the Globe is a mobile game adaptation of Prime Video’s hit animation series. However, unlike the animation, the upcoming mobile game will have a new story. The prospect of an Invincible video game was first revealed last year by Skybound Entertainment. Nothing else was heard after that.

A lot of gamers that have been yearning for more details about the development of the game were left a bit disappointed when they realized that Invincible: Guarding the Globe will be a mobile game rather than a console or PC game.

The free-to-play, squad management, graphic multi-battle action RPG is being developed by Ubisoft Barcelona Mobile. The gameplay mechanics will see players assemble a team of heroes that fight automated battles that will run in the background while players do other things.

Technically, players will not participate in the fight but only sit and watch. Their role will be to make sure that the best squad is picked for every fight. Once that is done, the player will have to sit back and watch the fight play out.

The storyline of Invincible: Guarding the Globe will be fresh

Well, die-hard Invincible fans will probably not care about the platform on which the game is being developed. If you are one of such fans, it will interest you to know that the game promises super-powered visuals—and that is in addition to the new storyline.

“Embark on a complete campaign with an original story set in the universe of Invincible—a new narrative with familiar characters where you join the Global Defense Agency to unravel the mystery of a deadly clone army working alongside the head of the GDA, Cecil Stedman,” read part of the Ubisoft announcement.

The character roster for the upcoming game was also revealed and it includes popular faces like Invincible, Atom Eve, and Omni-Man. Players can choose up to five characters and each of the characters will have a role which can be Support, Defender, or Attacker.

It is up to the player to choose a combination in every encounter that will overpower the evil clones. When released, the game will be available on both iOS and Android. However, the books are already open for pre-registration on Android, iOS, and Amazon AppStore.

There are lots of exciting rewards for players that opt signup for the game’s pre-registration. This includes Burger Mart Burger, 2 Hero Dossiers, 35,000 Hero XP, and 50,000 GDA Chips. The game will have daily and weekly tasks and completing these tasks would likely come with more rewards.

Brief backstory of the Invincible: Guarding the Globe

Skybound Entertainment started the Invincible series back in 2003 and it continued all the way to around 2018. It eventually got a remarkable TV adaptation in 2021 for Prime Video. The story of the comic and the TV series was similar and had Mark Grayson as the protagonist.

Mark Grayson is the son of Omni-Man, taunted as the most powerful superhero in the world. The series sees Grayson gradually come to terms with his newly discovered superpowers. The movie adaptation was particularly bloody with intense action scenes which made fans believe that a video game adaptation would be an instant hit.

“It’s been exciting seeing the evolution of Invincible universe from comic book to TV series, and now to a video game,” said Robert Kirkman, the chairman and CEO of Skybound. “I love that we’ve made the game into a multiplayer RPG and that you can fight numerous battles simultaneously. Ubisoft did an incredible job seamlessly recreating Invincible for the small screen.”

While Invincible: Guarding the Globe may not be the kind of game that most gamers expected, it is possible that Ubisoft wants to test the game’s popularity with a mobile offer. Perhaps, the game may evolve into a console option one day.
