For a game that sucks you into a mystical world when you play, I am not sure how I feel about the upcoming Jumanji: Wild Adventures game. The official announcement trailer for the upcoming game was posted on June 6, 2023, and revealed that the game will be in the hands of gamers as early as November 3, 2023.
Outright Games and Cradle Games (the studio behind Hellpoint) teamed up to deliver what appears to be one of the most ambitious Jumanji games ever made. In the upcoming game, players can take the role of one of their beloved characters namely Dr. Smolder Bravestone, Professor Shelly Oberon, Franklin Finbar, and Ruby.
The upcoming game can be played either in solo or co-op mode. The ultimate goal is to find the Jewel of Jumanji which has suddenly gone missing turning the world in disarray. “The skies have gone dark, the animals have gone wild,” where the words used in the trailer narration to describe how bad things can get when the Jewel of Jumanji goes missing.
It appears Outright Games has taken the feedback it got from the 2019 release. The developers have expanded the quest to include exploring icy mountains, escaping cunning traps, and fighting off corrupted creatures.

Jumanji: Wild Adventures will introduce new elements including solving intricate puzzles. Players will be rewarded for completing these puzzles with valuable loot and new abilities. The announcement trailer gave fans a peek into what they should expect from the new game.
Why are fans talking about the 2019 Jumanji video game?
The last time that a Jumanji game was released was in 2019. The game was called Jumanji: The Video Game. It was a third-person co-op game adapted from the movie reboots. Two years later, it was rebooted for PS5 but still did not do enough to grab the attention of most gamers.
Although Jumanji: The Video Game offered different playing modes including co-op and split-screen, the ratings were uninspiring. Outright Games promised that the game would have various unexpected elements that would make it fun and challenging. However, most players breezed through the game in a few hours.
The 2019 game had only four different sections which most players did not find engaging enough. Fans of the Jumanji franchise that played Jumanji: The Video Game are optimistic that Jumanji: Wild Adventures will have more levels and offer better engaging challenges—just as the announcement trailer suggests.
What we observed from Jumanji: Wild Adventures gameplay trailer
The collaboration between Outright Games and Cradle Games was evident in how the gameplay of Jumanji: Wild Adventures has evolved. In the gameplay trailer, there was a moment where a character was running away from rolling lava which was reminiscent of Crash Bandicoot.
At other points, the game looks like a top-down beat-em-up brawler, and at others, it simply takes the form of an arcade jump-and-run. Perhaps, these dynamic playing angles will be the icing that will get Jumanji: Wild Adventures the nod from gamers that its predecessor struggled and failed to get.

One thing we can decipher from the roughly 30 seconds trailer is that your playing experience will vary depending on the character you choose. As Professor Shelly Oberon (played by Jack Black), the player will fight off enemies with a hand trowel.
On the other hand, when you play as Franklin Finbar (played by Kevin Hart), you will knock back enemies with your big backpack. Dr. Smolder Bravestone (played by Dwayne Johnson) is the muscle guy and fights enemies using his bare hands while Ruby (played by Karen Gillan) prefers to use her legs in combat.
Jumanji: Wild Adventures will take players through caves, cliffs, forests, seas, rivers, and icy planes. The co-op mode will see the four characters fight a horde of enemies including monkeys and ground-burrowing snakes.
While the character models share a slim resemblance to the movie characters, they are still boxy, just like the monkeys. Hopefully, that will not be a turn-off. It is oddly interesting that Jumanji: Wild Adventures is going to be released without a movie tie-in. Perhaps, it was a deliberate ploy to separate the game from the movie.
