The official Killer Bean PC game trailer premiered on Saturday 19 August 2023, and it has got everyone talking. The first time that the world was introduced to Killer Bean was on 7 August 2012. Subsequently, the mobile game got numerous updates. The latest version was launched on 11 September 2022.
However, the killer bean trailer that premiered on the 19th was a PC version of the game—with all major console ports expected to follow later. What is most fascinating about the Killer Bean franchise is that it was created by one person, Jeff Lew—under Killer Bean Studio.
Lew first stunned the world when he wrote, directed, produced, and edited Killer Bean Forever movie in 2018. Now, he wants to accomplish the same feat by making the Killer Bean game all by himself. Lew hinted that Early Access will be released on Steam between February and March 2024.

“From the same creator as Killer Bean Forever, this is a first-person/third-person, open-world roguelike shooter,” read the description of the premiere.
From the description, it is obvious that Lew has an ambitious plan for the upcoming game. It was mentioned that “Every time you start a new single-player campaign, everything changes”. From the story to the mission to the bosses, and characters, everything changes with multiple endings.
“Characters who you trusted before, may turn against you. Enemies who tried to kill you may end up helping you. Simple missions can turn into deadly traps. No two campaigns are the same.”
There are lots of fascinating details about the upcoming game that we will highlight below. If you are excited about the upcoming Killer Bean game, add it to your Wishlist on Steam.
What is the story of the Killer Bean PC game?
Killer Bean PC game will have a story that is similar to Killer Bean Forever. Killer Bean used to work for the Shadow Agency until he was betrayed. After the fallout, he started learning the dark secrets of the agency and took it upon himself to destroy the agency,
On his path to accomplishing that goal, he will face deadly armies and operatives of the agency. This includes Shadow Beans which are products of secret experiments that have made them more powerful than Killer Bean.
Set on Shadow Bean Island measuring 3km x 3 km, some sections of the game will be played in the third-person view while other sections will be played in the first-person view. In first-person mode, players can turn off “camera rolling”. The upcoming game will feature “procedurally generated missions and story, packed with twists and surprises”.
Each full campaign will consist of 9 main missions with multiple side quests. “It will be divided into 3 chapters with 3 main missions each,” according to Lew. While Killer Bean will remain the main protagonist, Lew is mulling over adding Merc, Bad Bean, Jet Bean, Vagan, Cromwell, Chintow, and Kessler as playable characters.

The game will have a four-branch skills tree—guns blazing, parkour, melee combat, and stealth—which players can level up to further reflect their style of play. Unlike other games where everyone is against the protagonist, Killer Bean PC game will feature different enemy factions (Bad Beans, Mercenaries, and Shadow Beans) that hate each other. In-game dialogues will be text-based so that it will be “easier to develop for procedural missions”.
For the first time in the history of the franchise, the Killer Bean PC game will feature vehicles that players can drive. The PC game will also feature a large arsenal of weapons at Killer Bean’s disposal. Players will get the opportunity to design the “Shadow Beans that will hunt down Killer Bean”.
System requirements for Killer Bean PC game
The PC version of the game will be available on Windows, macOS, and Linux. On Windows, the game will run on Windows 8 or later and will need a gaming laptop with at least 4GB RAM. The recommended graphics card is NVIDIA GTX 970 or AMD Radeon 290.
The MacOS version will run on Mac OS X 10.15 or later. Just like Windows, players will need to have 4GB RAM or higher for a smooth playing experience. The recommended Graphics card is also NVIDIA GTX 970.
Linux players will need Ubuntu 12.04 or its equivalent to play the game. However, the recommended graphics card for Linux is OpenGL 3.2 compatible with 1GB VRAM. According to the game’s Steam page, the size of the game will be 4GB.
“Unfortunately, there won’t be mobile ports, because the game will be 10+ GB, and there are way too many mobile devices to support and test on each one,” according to a pinned comment in the game trailer premiere video.
Lew said the Killer Bean PC game will be priced at $20. However, he mentioned that “Steam varies the price by country, so it might be cheaper depending on where you are”. Lew also mentioned that several language packs will be added to the game, starting with the biggest audience—and some may be added post-launch.
Killer Bean PC game was inspired by Just Cause, Far Cry, GTA, and others
The Killer Bean PC game is two years in the making. Lew mentioned that it was inspired by a plethora of games including “Just Cause, Far Cry, Metal Gear Solid, GTA, Max Payne, Borderlands, Doom Eternal, and Streets of Rogue.”
Therefore, it is not surprising that Killer Bean can now drive a car (a concept car inspired by the Pontiac Solstice), boats, and aircraft—with motorcycles and jet packs planned for the game. Certain elements from the games Lew drew inspiration from were evident in the trailer.
For example, there will be zombies in the game which Lew said were “Shadow Agency experiment gone wrong”. The game will also have a multiplayer mode which will be mainly a co-op local splitscreen. However, Lew is also considering online multiplayer.

Killer Bean will have multiple outfits “especially the KB1 and KB2 skins which will be unlockable with achievements”. However, that will not be the only achievement the game will have. Lew hinted that they will be a lot and asked fans of the game to make suggestions on the Killer Bean Steam Community forum.
The game will have a few cutscenes. Although the Killer Bean franchise has been mostly guns blazing, Lew designed the PC game in such a way that fists can kill dizzy enemies. Players can do a finisher or interrogate the enemy too. Also, players can now holster their guns and use only their fists.
It is interesting to see how Killer Bean has evolved from being a mobile game to a PC and console game. Jeff Lew is the literal definition of a “one-man army”. If you ever feel that one individual cannot make a difference, think of Jeff Lew and think again.
