Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, aka KCD2, was launched on February 13, 2025, and has been a big success for Warhorse Studios. Recent data shows that the game earned the developer more than five times the launch month dollars pulled in by the first installment.

However, the long-awaited sequel also crushed other numbers compared to the first release. For example, the first game in the series garnered an average Metascore of 76 on PC, 69 on PS4, and 68 on Xbox One. It also garnered an 83% positive rating on Steam.

On the other hand, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 garnered 88 on PC and Xbox Series X and 87 on PS5. Its 93% Steam positive rating also trumped its predecessor by ten percentage points.

The data from American market research and technology company, Circana, was shared by the company’s analyst Mat Piscatella on BlueSky where he also added context that highlights the success of the second installment compared to the first.

“The launch month dollar sales total Kingdom Come: Deliverance II reached in February 2025 was more than 5 times higher than that the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance achieved during its February 2018 debut,” Piscatella wrote.

Nevertheless, it is important to mention Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 which launched on February 4 had the advantage of an early start over the first game which launched on February 13. The over a week head start likely contributed to the wider sales margin between both titles.

KCD2 is also the second best-selling video game in 2025 behind Monster Hunter: Wilds. It will be interesting to see what position on the list it will occupy in the next six months.
