The attack was reportedly orchestrated by a group called “Rhysida”. As proof of their hack, the group posted the personal data of current and ex-employees including passport images. One of the personal information shared was that of Yuri Lowenthal, the voice actor for Peter Parker in Spider-Man 2.

The group gave Insomniac seven days to make an undisclosed payment, or they would make all the data public. On its website, the group is running an auction for the data which starts at around $2 million in bitcoin.

“With just 7 days on the clock, seize the opportunity to bid on exclusive, unique, and impressive data,” read the message on their website. “Open your wallets and be ready to buy exclusive data. We sell only to one hand, no reselling, you will be the only owner!”

In addition to the leaked employee information, new images of Marvel’s Wolverine were leaked online as well as references to upcoming projects. Some of the leaked documents were posted on Reddit by GamingLeaksAndRumors. However, the post has now been deleted.

Insider Gaming spotted the post before it was deleted and reported that three of the yet-to-be-announced titles are Spider-Verse, Spider-Man 3, and RCE. It has been previously reported that Insomniac is working on a multiplayer project which fans now speculate to be the Spider-Verse.

Insomniac started developing Marvel’s Wolverine alongside Spider-Man 2. However, along the way priority was given to Spider-Man 2. With the release of Spider-Man 2, Wolverine is the next in line with a release officially scheduled for 2024.

The big question on the minds of Insomniac fans is when the studio will announce its next title. Nevertheless, many believe the Spider-Verse game will likely follow the success of the studio’s Spider-Man franchise if properly executed.

Insomniac’s Spider-Man franchise has been a huge success for the studio with the first game in the series selling 33 million copies as of May 2022. This year’s Spider-Man 2 sold 2.5 million copies in the first 24 hours making it Sony’s fastest-selling first-party game to date.
