Whoever shared the message about Mafia: The Old Country’s PAX East livestream on Steam will likely be scratching their head because they accidentally shared the game’s release date. The mistake was quickly erased, although the details are now in the wild.
“Mafia: The Old Country Developer Panel – Live from PAX: May 8,” read the message. “Mafia fans understand the gravity of breaking omertà, so don’t miss your chance to uncover the origins of organized crime with Mafia: The Old Country at PAX East.”

“On May 8 at 7 pm BST / 2 pm ET / 11 am PT, watch the developers at Hangar 13 reveal new details about the game and offer a rare behind-the-scenes look at the past, present, and future of this legendary franchise, live from their panel discussion via the PAX East mainstream and the Mafia YouTube channel.”
The show will feature the studio president Nick Baynes, the game director Alex Cox, and cinematic director Tomas Hrebicek will look back at the 23 years of the Mafia franchise and share a glimpse into what is to come with Mafia: The Old Country.
“Those attending the event can expect a small reward for their loyalty,” the studio revealed. Those who cannot make it to Boston are also encouraged to keep their eyes on Hanger 13’s social channels because giveaways will be shared, including more news about the upcoming game.
Perhaps, that was where the developer intended to share news about the release date of the game. Unfortunately, it was posted early with the message on Steam. At the bottom of the message came the release date announcement which has now been removed. It read:
