The results are in and it is looking exciting for Marvel Rivals. NetEase just announced that the game hit 10 million players in just three days. This solidifies its position as a real competitor in the hero shooter genre.
“Marvel Rivals is a Super Hero Team-Based PVP shooter” read the official blurb. “Assemble an all-star Marvel squad, devise countless strategies by combining powers to form unique Team-up skills, and fight in destructible, ever-changing battlefields across the continually evolving Marvel universe!”

Developed and published by NetEase Games, Marvel Rivals has mostly positive reviews on Steam. In a message posted on X announcing the new milestone, the developer thanked players from all around the world.
“In just 72 hours, we’ve reached an incredible milestone of 10 million players worldwide!” wrote the developer. “We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. Let’s ignite the battle together!”
Marvel Rivals was always going to excite anyone who loves the hero shooter genre because of its unmatched roster of fan-favorite superheroes including those making their first appearances in a video game like Iron Fist and Moon Knight.
Most players are still cycling through the roster to find their favorite character. With its initial success, Marvel Rivals is well on track to challenge staples like Overwatch in the genre.
Over the weekend, Marvel Rivals hit 480,990 peak concurrent players putting it in the top 5 spot on the list of most concurrently played games on Steam, according to SteamDB. For context, that number puts it above Helldivers 2, Fallout 4, and Grand Theft Auto 5.
NetEase also announced the launch of the competitive mode for the SO Dooms’ Rise. Players who reach level 10 can join the challenge with the chance of getting a Golden Moonlight costume if they achieve a Gold rank. The top 500 players at the end of Season 0 will receive the Gold Crest of Honor.
Some players have complained about being stuck on the loading screen. This issue is likely related to server overload from the large influx of players. However, this glitch has done little to mar the successful launch of the game.
