During the PlayStation Showcase on May 24, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was the biggest game of the announcement. However, the release date was not certain. Viewers were only told that the game will be released in Fall. An official release date has now been announced for the upcoming game and we have gotten even more hyped.
Insomniac Games announced on June 8 that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will launch on Friday, 10 October 2023. The bad news for those that are yet to upgrade to the next-gen console is that it will be a PS5 exclusive. Spider-Man 2 is a follow-up to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020) which was also a sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018).
According to the announcement, “the team [at Insomniac Games] has worked tirelessly over the past few years to make this third installment in the franchise the sequel you have been waiting for”.

Apparently, the game was built exclusively for the PS5 console and will unlock the power of the console including better visuals, faster web swinging and web wings, almost instantaneous character switching, and 3D Audio which can be experienced through built-in TV speakers or analog/USB stereo headphones.
What should players expect from Spider-Man 2?
Players will experience Marvel’s version of New York as both Miles Morales and Peter Parker. This makes sense because the map has become larger and Peter Parker cannot get to certain areas on time and will need to call in Miles Morales to cover the areas he can’t.
A bit of how seamless the player switch will be was highlighted in the PlayStation Showcase. Players will get to explore Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan as either of the two Spider-Men. However, both characters will have their exclusive missions.
In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Peter and Miles will have to deal with three key villains namely Venom, Lizard, and Kraven. Each of the protagonists has evolved abilities. Peter’s abilities have evolved, thanks to the symbiote. Miles also has evolved bioelectric Venom powers.
Pre-orders will start on June 16
Like most upcoming releases, the books will open for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 pre-order on 16 June 2023 starting from 10:00 AM local time. Fans can pre-order the game at PlayStation Direct, PlayStation Store, or participating retailers.

Also, players that pre-order Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will get 3 skill points and unlock the Web Grabber gadget right off the bat.

The second bad news is that the Collector’s Edition will only be available in limited markets which include Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
