Rumors have been flying around about the potential release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. After its announcement in 2023, fans have gotten cinematic trailers and glimpses of gameplay over the years which built interest in the next installment in the franchise.
A promotional poster posted on Konami’s online shop and shared by an X user with the handle @Wario64 appears to confirm that the game will be released on August 28 across the current-gen consoles and PC.
“Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater launches on August 28, 2025, but your next mission starts now!” read the message at the bottom of the poster.

However, it appears Konami realized its mistake and pulled the image from its online store. At the time of writing, the image was no longer available. With the PlayStation State of Play rumored to be around the corner, Konami would prefer to give Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater a proper release date announcement at the event.
Earlier, the PlayStation Store briefly listed Snake Eater with an August release date. The listing was also accompanied by a 2-minute character trailer that shows how much the character has evolved compared to the original. However, that listing was quickly taken down.
Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater is being developed on Unreal Engine 5. In recent years, the franchise has faced uncertainty, especially with the exit of Hideo Kojima from Konami to establish Kojima Productions in 2015. The 2018 Metal Gear Survive didn’t resonate with fans as previous entries.
However, it appears Konami has overcome the setback, especially with the positive reception of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 which includes the compilation of the first five Metal Gear games.
There are other rumors around the tactical espionage including speculations that it may come to Switch 2—the speculation was also carried by Nate the Hate who is popular with high-profile leaks. While August is still a while, for Metal Gear Solid fans, Snake Eater wouldn’t have come earlier.
