At this point, it should be clear to the blind that Microsoft has lost the console war. Perhaps, that fueled a recent rumor that the tech giant was winding down sales of Xbox consoles in Saudi Arabia. A post on social media claimed “even distributors won’t be able to get the device”.

Microsoft Will Continue Selling Xbox Consoles In Saudi Arabia

Ami Silverman, the Chief Consumer Sales Officer for Microsoft was drawn into the conversation which was burning hot on social media. Silverman set the records straight saying Xbox is still available in all regions where the hardware is supported.

“Xbox devices are available in all current Xbox hardware-supported countries, including Saudi Arabia,” Silverman said in a statement circulated by different outlets.

“Console availability may vary by country but Xbox games can be played on consoles, PCs, and on phones, tablets, or TVs where Xbox Cloud Gaming is available. Players can visit xbox.com/regions to learn more about how to play with Xbox.”

While the statement is enough to allay any fears that console players in Saudi Arabia may have, Microsoft will need to do more to convince its community that it is still in the console business.

Despite the declining community confidence on the future of the Xbox console, Microsoft has recorded remarkable wins in its gaming division. About a year ago, the head of Xbox Phil Spencer said the company has recorded significant growth in the Asian market.

In July 2024, it was revealed that the tech giant’s ‘gaming ecosystem’ has around 500 million monthly active users—which is growing exponentially. Microsoft is working hard to make Xbox the most accessible gaming service.

Players can now play Xbox games on smart televisions and using streaming sticks like the Fire TV Stick 4K. For now, fans can rest easy knowing the Xbox console is still on sale. However, the biggest question on the minds of many is for how long.
