It has become an annual tradition for Mojang, the developers of Minecraft, to publish stats about players’ in-game activities. This year’s stats were no less insane compared to previous years, especially the number of blocks broken by players.
Minecraft is still one of the most globally actively played games across multiple platforms and this year marks its 15th anniversary. This year, it got multiple new updates with Mojang committing to consistently releasing fresh content.

Some of the updates Minecraft got this 2024 include Bundles of Bravery, The Garden Awakens, Tricky Trials, and Armored Paws. The updates brought new items and creatures to the game. Mojang revealed the new stats through a video it posted on Boxing Day on YouTube titled “Minecraft 2024: A year in blocks”.
“This year you – the Minecraft community – placed billions of blocks (over 300 billion in fact!) crafted millions of maces, and created thousands of crafters,” read the video description.
“You explored features from our three game drops: Armored Paws, Bundles of Bravery, and the Garden Awakens, plus took on the challenges of the Tricky Trials update. Since you made our 15th year of Minecraft so special, this one’s for you!”
The video did not include any details on planned content for 2025. However, the game will inevitably get new content if Mojang plans to maintain player engagement. The game will likely get multiple minor updates spread throughout next year. Here are all the 2024 stats from the block-themed game revealed by Mojang.
- 347 billion blocks broken
- 44 million Armadillo scutes picked up
- 3 million wolf armor crafted
- 491,000 Crafters crafted
- 2 million Maces crafted
- 24 million vaults opened
- 20 million breezes defeated
- 53 million eyeblossoms collected
- 39 million Hardcore deaths recorded
- 85 billion biomes visited
- 4 million bundles dyed
