A trip to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt memory lane
First released in 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt quickly gained a reputation as one of the all-time best RPGs. The game’s score averaged over 90 across various rating websites like Metacritic. It went ahead to sell over 50 million copies as the years rolled by.
It later received visual and performance enhancement for an improved experience on next-gen consoles—including the addition of ray-tracing. The CD Projekt Red masterpiece allows players to become Geralt of Rivia, a legendary monster slayer.
Follow his epic journey through the monster-infested continent across the main story as well as the two expansions Blood and Wine and Hears of Stone. It is important to mention that the ray-tracing elements will only be available on PC and Xbox Series X.
The Witcher 4 will kickstart a new trilogy
The Witcher 4 is currently in works under the codename Polaris according to GamesRadar report—although the release title may be different. Nevertheless, it is believed the game will kickstart the launch of a new triple-A RPG trilogy. The news was shared by the CD Projekt Red.
The Witcher 4 was part of the developer’s suite of games currently in development. Fans consider it long overdue considering the fact that it has been around 8 years since the release of the last The Witcher game. Therefore, the news of a potential trilogy was more than welcomed.
While detail about the game’s story is still under wraps, it has been revealed that the upcoming game will make use of Unreal Engine 5 rather than the developer’s proprietary RED engine which was used for its previous developments including Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, and The Witcher 2.
Back in May, CD Projekt Red announced the conclusion of the “research phase” of The Witcher 4. The studio also had to split its attention between the pre-production of the upcoming RPG series and working on Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty expansion.
