After making the announcement through a post on X, the Japanese gaming giant quickly added that “there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during either of these presentations”. The Nintendo Switch successor is one of the biggest news that fans of the handheld gaming consoles are waiting for.

As expected, the response to that comment was mostly that of disappointment and outrage. One X user with the handle @CraneGothurt wrote “Nintendo Switch 3 announcement today or we riot”. However, that was likely humoring the entire anticipation.

Nintendo added a similar disclaimer in their last Indie World Showcase in April 2024 which lasted around 22 minutes. That event featured several games including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Splintered Fate and SteamWorld Heist II.

In June, Nintendo also held a 40-minute Direct showcase that announced several Mario titles including Mario & Luigi Brothership which was given a November release window. Other games that featured in the mid-June showcase include Funko Fusion, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, and Nintendo World Championships.
