In a new episode of Nate the Hate podcast, it was claimed that the reveal trailer for Nintendo Switch 2 hardware is being planned for Thursday, January 16, 2025, with a software showcase coming later in February or early March.
“I can share with you that Nintendo Switch 2 will be revealed in the coming week… I have been told Switch 2 will be revealed on Thursday, January 16… just a few days from now,” they said.

“I’ve heard that the reveal itself is going to focus almost exclusively on the console itself. Games are not going to be present. There could be a game shown running on the screen, depending on how the trailer is put together, but software is not going to be a focus.”
The podcast has become popular for revealing accurate insider information before it becomes publicly available. In the past, the date and even content of PlayStation showcases have been spilled on the podcast.
The two-part reveal for Nintendo Switch 2 matches the way the company revealed the first generation of the hardware. Switch hardware trailer was announced in 2016 and the following January, a full reveal with games and release information was aired.
Nate the Hate predicted that Nintendo Switch 2 would likely launch in May or June this year. They also predicted that a new version of Mario Kart could be available with the console at launch, followed by a 3D Mario during the 2025 holiday season.
It was also claimed that third-party releases would include Final Fantasy 7 Remake with Ubisoft also mulling the release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage on the new console as well as a port for Konami’s Metal Gear Solid Delta.
While Nintendo has previously confirmed plans to reveal Switch 2 in the current fiscal year ending March 2025, there seems to be a level of urgency to do so now. GameBaba Universe believes it is not unrelated to the events of the past few weeks.
Why Nintendo may be under pressure to reveal Switch 2
It hurts developers when their products are leaked to the public before their reveal. It robs them of the power to control the narrative. Lately, there have been lots of leaks around the Nintendo Switch 2.
During the CES 2025 in Las Vegas, an accessory maker Genki presented what they claimed was an accurate replica of the Nintendo Switch 2. It was reported that a lawyer representing Nintendo eventually approached Genki.
“I spoke with the guy from Genki, just behind me,” said journalist Julien Tellouck in a video he posted from CES. “He told me that Nintendo had already sent lawyers their way. But Genki has nothing to worry about because they’ve never signed any papers with Nintendo, no confidentiality agreement, no NDA. So, the Japanese brand is in the clear.”

The Nintendo Switch 2 will reportedly feature a larger screen and slightly larger Joy-Cons connected to the console magnetically. Although the CES presentation by Genki is by far the biggest leak on the upcoming console, there have been several other leaks before that.
A few weeks ago, alleged images of Switch 2 emerged on Reddit showcasing what was claimed were the internal hardware components of the console. Based on the leak, it is believed the new console would be powered by Nvidia hardware.
There was yet another leak earlier this week from a tech leaker notorious for releasing accurate renders of unreleased hardware. The 360-degree render from the source appears to show Nintendo’s next console which they claimed was the most accurate look of the Switch 2.
We believe these leaks have put Nintendo under pressure to officially reveal their next console iteration. We are monitoring the situation and will inform you if or when Nintendo schedules a showcase.
