Nintendo today announced the addition of three classic games to Nintendo Switch Online. The titles are the sequel to the iconic fighting game Fatal Fury 2, Super Ninja Boy, and Shutte Hakkun.

Fatal Fury 2

Fatal Fury 2 was developed and released by SNK in 1992 as a sequel to Fatal Fury: King of Fighters which was released a year earlier. It was initially released on Neo Geo but later received ports for several consoles including Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis.

Fatal Fury holds the record as the first video game to introduce both the first Korean and first Taekwondo character in a fighting game. It also introduced several female video game characters whose popularity has grown over the years. Its addition to Nintendo Switch Online will be nostalgic for those who grew up with the game.

Super Ninja Boy

Super Ninja Boy was developed by Culture Brain and released on Super Famicom and SNES in the same year as the first Fatal Fury but didn’t come to North America until 1993. The RPG featured randomized levels and battles with a few platforming sections.

Super Ninja Boy can be played solo or with a friend. The main character is Jack but a second player can join as Ryu. It was one of the foremost games that used a password system to record progress.

Sutte Hakkun

The most recent of the three games coming to Nintendo Switch Online is Shutte Hakkun. Developed by Nintendo R&D2 and Indieszero, the 1997 action puzzle game features a character that looks like a duck. It was released on Super Famicom. It later received three updates with new puzzles.

What is Nintendo Switch Online?

Nintendo Switch Online is a paid service launched by the Japanese gaming powerhouse on September 18, 2018. It allows Nintendo Switch owners to play classic titles online and save their progress on the cloud.

Since its launch, the number of compatible games added to the library has continued to expand. The titles added to Nintendo Switch Online span across different console generations including NES, Super NES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 64, and SEGA Mega Drive.

Subscribers of the streaming service are privy to special offers like in-game gear and game trials. To play games on Nintendo Switch Online, you need a Nintendo account, strong Internet access, and a Nintendo Switch system with system menu version 6.0 or above.
