In just 5 days after The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was launched, it has attracted 4 million players. Bethesda Game Studios announced the milestone on Friday, April 25, 2025, thanking everyone who has “already ventured into Cyrodiil with Oblivion Remastered”.
What was not disclosed is the number of players who purchased the game versus the number who played through Game Pass on PC or Xbox. Nevertheless, it is still an impressive number for a game with nearly no known marketing budget.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered peaked at 190,119 concurrent players on Steam with more than half of that number actively playing at the time of writing. The success of the remaster beams light on the popularity of the franchise.
The Elder Scrolls is a popular series with a fanbase that has swelled with each successive new installment in the series. For those yet to experience the game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered can pass as a new title with hundreds of hours of entertainment. However, those who have previously played the game will get to experience its full potential, including improved graphics and the ability to sprint, which was missing in the 2006 release.
After it was revealed and shadow released on April 21, it quickly became one of the most-streamed games across different platforms. For those familiar with the franchise, it was a nostalgic homecoming while for those experiencing it for the first time, it was a sort of window into the past.
Fallout 3 Remastered is the next game rumored to be in the works by Bethesda Game Studios. With the success of Oblivion Remastered, the studio has every incentive and motivation they need to push through with that project.
Fans spot Skyrim Easter Egg in Oblivion Remastered
A fan has already spotted what appears to be a Skyrim Easter Egg in Oblivion Remastered. According to the player, if you go to the edge of the map in Oblivion Remastered, you will have a glimpse of Skyrim’s tallest mountain, The Throat of the World, a feature that was not present in the original game.

While the developer preserved as much of the original version as possible, they also highlighted how much of new content has been added to the game, some of which fans are now discovering.
“So the worlds are connected? Even if you can’t actually go there that’s a really cool concept, I hope they make a game with all of them someday but like in the future like BOTW maybe,” said X user @Veronikasizzle.
