Documents sent to the United States Patent and Trademark Office show that Nintendo has transferred the patents of The Wonderful 101 to PlatinumGames Inc. The document was dated August 19, 2024, suggesting the transfer happened last month.
“Registrant PlatinumGames Inc. attaches a copy of the Trademark Assignment Cover Sheet as well as the Notice of Recordation confirming that the subject trademark registration, Reg. No. 4602018, has been assigned from the prior owner, Nintendo of America Inc., to the current owner, PlatinumGames Inc., and this assignment has been recorded at REEL/FRAME: 8543/0892,” read the miscellaneous statement of the USPTO document.

“Registrant requests that the USPTO’s records be updated to reflect the correct owner of the registration, and that the renewal notice be issued in the name of the correct owner, PlatinumGames Inc.”
PlatinumGames Inc. is best known for developing hits like the Bayonetta series and NierR: Automata. According to the company’s LinkedIn page, they love games and develop games with passion.

In The Wonderful 101: Remastered, “Heroes from all over the world now rise up to protect the Earth from an invasion by evil aliens,” according to the company’s description.

One comment on Reddit said it is unlikely that Nintendo would feel bad about transferring The Wonderful 101 patent to PlatinumGames. According to them, the game is one of the few games that performed badly after being ported from Wii U.
