For most players, it will take over 100 hours to beat Baldur’s Gate 3. However, some gamers are just out of this world. If you don’t mind spoilers, read on to find out how ImTaiyl beat Baldur’s Gate in 3 minutes 57 seconds.
ImTaiyl is a speedrunner and has carved a niche for himself by finishing games in record times. The video shared by the streamer showed that he used Gale’s Feather Fall and Enhance Leap abilities to move easily across the map.
The combination of both abilities allowed the streamer to skip large parts of Act 1. However, the key secret to his world record Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrun appears to be the cleric companion Shadowheart trick. ImTaiyl killed Shadowheart, put her body in a box, and sets the box on fire. This appears to be a crucial part of the speedrun.

It was really hard to follow the Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrun—unless you are a pro in the game—since the streamer clicked through everything quickly. ImTaiyl’s combination of tricks allowed him to skip large parts of the game, all the way to the end of Act 2.
It was not the best ending to the game though since Gale died by detonating the Netherese Destruction Orb nestled in his chest, taking out everything and everyone in the vicinity. Baldur’s Gate 3 is believed to have over 17,000 endings, meaning you can always get right back into the game and try to beat the game with a new ending.
“Oh, that’s on four,” the streamer screamed as soon as the credits started rolling up. “There it is. Wow, I did so bad on the first two splits.”
Eventually, the streamer revealed that it took him 2,048 attempts to reach that record. It appears the streamer outdid his expectations before calling out the names of those who have attempted the records before him. See the video below.
Other interesting Baldur’s Gate 3 records
Prior to ImTaiyl’s records, other players have set intriguing records on Baldur’s Gate 3 using other characters. For example, there was a record for the fastest time to sleep with a companion character. The record was set at two minutes and four seconds by Mae. Before that record, the previous record was seven minutes fifty-four seconds.

A lot of people found it fascinating considering the fact that there are myriads of choices that either increase or decrease the companion character’s opinion of the protagonist. If you want to give it a try, it is important to mention that in Baldur’s Gate 3 the romance options are reserved for Wyll, Shadowheart, Minthara, Lae’zel, Karlach, Halsin, Gael, and Astarion. Mae set the record with Lae’zel.
The statistics shared by Larian Studios some time ago revealed that Astarion rejected over 100,000 players. Larian Studios has also promised that they will introduce a new ending for Karlach after multiple fan feedbacks that said the character did not receive a fitting epilogue—and have since fulfilled that promise.
Larian has patched some speedrun out of the game, and this one will likely follow. Therefore, if you want to attempt the 4-minute speedrun and shave hours off Baldur’s Gate 3 credit screen, you might want to give it a try now before the next hotfix arrives.
