It is not a secret that many gamers hate microtransactions in games—notwithstanding it is one of the ways developers keep making money from games. If you are in this category, it will excite you to know that Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will launch without microtransactions, according to the game’s new trailer.

“Whether you are a solo player who wants to tour iconic magical locations while flying alongside your favorite characters in career mode, a social player who wants to rep your house and play with your friends in online co-op, or a gamer looking to prove yourself against the world in multiplayer mode, Quidditch Champions has something for everyone,” said the narrator in the new trailer, “and you won’t need Malfoy money to enjoy hours of Quidditch Champions because there are no microtransactions in the game.”

The absence of microtransactions was not the only revelation from the new gameplay trailer. Quidditch Champions will have four different positions with different playstyles namely Chaser, Seeker, Beater, and Keeper.

“Each successful goal a Chaser scores through the hoops is worth ten points and if your Seeker manages to catch the snitch before the opposing team, they’ll earn 30 points, enough to recover if your team is trailing behind or pull further ahead if you’re in the lead.”

The player that scores the most points or the first player to reach 100 points wins the game. Quidditch Champions will launch on September 3 across PS4|PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows. The game was developed by Unbroken Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games.

Quidditch Champions career mode has familiar players

“Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is an immersive, dynamic experience that captures the essence of what makes Quidditch so special,” said the creative director of Unbroken Studio Farren Fox.

“Whether you’re a seasoned competitive gamer or a Harry Potter enthusiast, we wanted to make a game for everyone. This meant including a lot of unlockable content to upgrade and customize your equipment and character – all of which can only be earned through gameplay progression – along with multiple game modes from single-player to online co-op to multiplayer PvP.”

The career mode of Quidditch Champions is more like a grass-to-grace story where the player will start by playing friendly games at the Weasley burrow before advancing to playing in one of the three available cups. Winning the family and securing the garden cup will kick off your career.

The first stop is Hogwarts where the player will compete in the annual Quidditch House Cup. Here, players can choose to play as Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin, wearing the robe of their chosen house and facing off against popular faces from the other houses including Cho Chang, Cedric Diggory, Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter.

The next stop is the Tri Wizard School Quidditch Cup where players can choose to represent one of the three greatest wizarding schools. Once you conquer that, you will head to the biggest Quidditch event, the Quidditch World Cup.

At the Quidditch World Cup, players will choose to represent one of sixteen nations and face the most challenging opponent in front of a roaring crowd. To get there, players will need to upgrade their character buildout with skill points that can be spent on skills like tackling, teamwork, quaffle handling, seeking, defense, and disruption.

Each broom will add a different stat to the player depending on the manufacturer. Some will add speed, other durability, or agility. According to the narrator of the video said, “No two brooms fly the same”.

Quidditch Champions will have six characters on the roster. However, each of the characters can be customized in different ways including hair, outfits, headwear, wands, and more. The game’s roadmap includes new seasons and events that will feature new characters, maps, rewards, and so much more.

“We are excited to have PlayStation Plus members redeem the Standard Edition of the game at no extra charge from September 3 to September 30,” Fox said.
