The popular developer behind the Grand Theft Auto franchise, Rockstar Games, has announced the acquisition of Sydney-based Video Games Deluxe. The studio was founded by Brendan McNamara who previously directed The Gateway for Sony.
Video Games Deluxe has been a long-time partner with Rockstar. Both companies have worked together on several projects including the 2017 re-releases of La Noire, La Noire: The VR Case Files, and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. Video Games Deluxe will be renamed Rockstar Australia.

“After working together closely over many years, we are excited to have Video Games Deluxe join the team as Rockstar Australia,” said Rockstar Games Head of Publishing, Jennifer Kolbe.
“It’s been an honor to work closely with Rockstar Games this past decade,” said Video Games Deluxe founder Brendan McNamara. “We are thrilled to be a part of Rockstar Games and to continue our efforts to make the best games possible.”
Rockstar became a household name with the Grand Theft Auto franchise. The developer is working towards the release of the sixth installment which it is confident will still happen later this year.
There are claims that Rockstar is in talks with top Fortnite and Roblox creators about the possibility of creating a custom experience in GTA 6. Recently, WWE superstar John Cena posted the GTA 6 cover art on Instagram and some started speculating that he may feature in the game.
