The Rockstar website was temporarily down for at least two hours before coming back up. Some who tried to access the website during its downtime got the error message “The page you’re looking for doesn’t exist or another error occurred. (339)”.
Â
During the website’s downtime, there were lots of speculations. One post from the handle @GTAVIGossip claimed they were adding GTA 6 stuff into the code (which didn’t make sense in our opinion), while another post claimed the website had crashed.

Well, when the website came back, it was evident that the downtime was because of an update Rockstar was making to the homepage. Before the update, the banner was just the cover art of GTA 6. However, after the update, 3 more images have been added to the banner.

The Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid image for GTA Online, The Chop Shop, and new Drag Races images have now been added to the banner. Every other section of Rockstar’s website appeared unchanged after the downtime.
Platform owners regularly carry out maintenance on their websites. Sometimes the maintenance is to improve performance or fix bugs and at other times the maintenance is to enhance the aesthetics of the website. We strongly think the latter is the reason for the downtime experienced on Rockstar’s website.
However, since GTA is always a hot topic, bloggers self-acclaimed GTA 6 news handles are always quick to jump on any Rockstar or GTA 6 news to boost views or get more followers. Even when a Rockstar event has nothing to do with GTA 6, they often find a way to link to it.
Senior Rockstar artist said GTA 6 will be better than The Last of Us Part 2
Senior artist Hailin Si who previously worked on Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 2 before joining Rockstar claimed that GTA 6 will be far better than The Last of Us Part 2. He compared the gameplay, graphics, characters, animation, and other game assets between both games. The message was found on GTAForum by user viceYcity.
Senior artist, Hailin Si compared the quality of assets of both games, which is the technical part (graphics, gameplay, animations, characters, 3D models, textures and sound effects).

According to Si, GTA 6 is the most advanced game he has worked on in his 10-year career. While answering questions in the forum, the material artist was careful about what he disclosed—obviously because of an NDA. However, he did his best to answer most of the questions that he was asked.

Si claimed that all the art assets of GTA 6 have been completed which suggests that the game is close to completion. In addition to that, the senior material artist also made a couple of revelations about the upcoming game including the framerate and how challenging it is for developers to bring games to Xbox Series S.
“I am just expressing my personal opinion,” Si said when asked if the frame rate will be 30 on Xbox Series X. “For any masterpiece, even a game with poor image quality, it is a huge challenge to use XSS [Xbox Series S]. Please refer to Baldur’s Gate. I personally will not play with this thing, even if it is given to me for free.”

Another question that came up during the forum discussion was what the Rockstar working environment felt like. This question was likely inspired by the recent protest of Rockstar devs over the return-to-office mandate. In response to that question, Si said: “Busy but often short, all focus on firepower output, go home early”.
Si was asked whether GTA will run on stable 60 fps on PS5. In response, Si said, “I don’t know, but we are confident”.
