Christian Cantamessa was the lead designer and writer for Red Dead Redemption while Davide Soliani was the creative director for Mario + Rabbids. The studio received funding from video game publisher Krafton and 1UP Ventures founded by Xbox co-creator Ed Fries.

The duo will co-direct a totally new IP project. Day 4 Night already has a growing list of award-winning multidisciplinary staff who are industry veterans. Some of them have been working together for over 15 years.

Some of the names already confirmed on the duty roster of Day 4 Night include Cristina Nava as executive producer (former producer at Ubisoft Milan), Gian Marco Zanna (former producer at Ubisoft Milan), and Luca Breda as design director (former combat director at Ubisoft).

“When I first fell in love with video games at the start of my career, I saw the power of this new medium to tell stories never told before and create worlds that could transform people,” said Cantamessa. “Day 4 Night is a return to that innovative spirit, to that innocence, to that unbridled creativity.”

Day 4 Night will focus on innovation and originality. They are also committed to creating new content that pushes the boundaries of game design and storytelling.

“What we are crafting at Day 4 Night is a reflection of everything I’ve ever wanted to experience as a player – joy, adventure, poetry, action, wonder, and the pleasure of working with friends,” said Soliani.

“It’s a lullaby for my soul and a serenade to our industry, to the magic and the madness of creating worlds from nothing. It’s a story about triumphs, challenges, dreams, to light the path we walk together.”

Reacting to their investment in the new studio, Krafton’s VP and head of corporate development Maria Park said “Day 4 Night’s pitch presented a highly engaging and captivating story,” adding that it was “the type of studios we aim to support at Krafton”.

Fries of 1UP Ventures also commented on the creativity and originality of Day 4 Night’s pitch. According to him, “This was easily the most creative thing we have seen in quite some time”.
