Microsoft has launched the Microsoft Edge Game Assist which it dubbed “the first in-game browser experience”. According to the Xbox maker, the new software was inspired by the fact that 88% of PC gamers use a browser while playing to get help, track their progress, chat with friends, or listen to music.

Previously, players in this category would need to pull out their smartphones or hit the Alt+Tab keys which takes them out of the game. However, with the Microsoft Edge game Assist, the browser is overlayed on the game in the Game Bar.

According to Microsoft, the Game Assist is game-aware and can suggest tips and guides depending on what you are playing. This eliminates the need to zoom out of your game to access something on the internet.

From Discord to Spotify to Twitch, you can now handle everything through the overlayed Game Assist. This is because Game Assist can be pinned like every other widget which makes it easier for players to refer to guides or videos.

The feature was launched on Friday, November 22, 2024, on Windows 11 with Microsoft Edge Beta 132. It is easy to set up and can be called up during gameplay with the hotkey Win+G.

While Game Assist was designed to take up only a small space on the screen, the player can resize it to their taste. The new in-game browser shares a profile with Edge on your PC and mobile, meaning saved passwords can be easily entered, or you can access your bookmarks and browse history without leaving your game.
